Fox getting teary eyed while talking about Jake's release...

I was in the military myself, and I have played team sports, so I know damn well what I'm talking about.

Have you ever played a team sport that you were paid millions to perform a task?

Good lord some of you are so naive. Its a business. There is no crying in business.

Hey I can play that game! You think Parcells or Bellicheck would cry over having to cut a QB that just threw 18 picks?

We get it... you don't like Jake, Your all over Moore thats cool.

Were these other QB's Jake?? Were they apart of taking the franchise to thier first Super bowl? Were they a huge presence in the locker room? Were they as likable and good of person as Jake??

Fox has been very close to Jake (As we can tell). All coaches don't coach the same. Just like all bosses at work don't manage the same.

I'm sure a boss would be sad if a great employee of his had an accident, had surgery, and couldn't perform the same duties again as required.

I've seen some of the toughest men you could ever encounter that teared up when they had to say goodbye to some of the friends they made in the Army. So forgive me if I'm not the least bit impressed by a bunch of little internet tough guys that claim that they wouldn't get emotionally attached to a guy that they have been through tough times with.

Keep comparing is fine. Just leave the "death" part out of it. I think it's disrespect for fallen comrades & cheapens them to a game analogy.

LOL at all you internet tough guys. Every last one of you would have been crying like a 10yr old girl if you were in the same situation. This is not a company like GM, this is more like the military where you make friends that you would literally die for if you had to. I guess you big ole manly men wouldn't know anything about that though.

BTW, how many of you watched Mike Minter's retirement PC? JR could barely even talk so I guess he's a pussy too, right?

I'm not sure that the problem is that he cried. I think the problem is that some people think that this obvious show of emotion may be circumstantial evidence showing that Fox thinks with his heart more than his head. At least that's the way I see it. BTW...I seriously doubt I would cry if I were Fox in the same situation, regardless of his relationship with Delhomme. I mean it's not like Delhomme is going to be homeless and his kids are going to be forced to beg on the streets to buy food. Get a grip people.

Coach/quarterback tandems that last longer than five years in the NFL are extremely rare. The fact that they made millions together adds to the sadness, it doesn't detract from it.

The fact that they cried tells me it ISN'T all business to them, and I like that. I'd be disappointed if they didn't cry, ala George Seifert. He put out a press release when they let go of Beuerlein. The PR people said a bunch of positive things and Seifert said "don't make him look too good, people will want to know why we let him go".

In the military its just fact that you move on. Sure there is that close bond that is built but you know you cant stay in the same place for your whole career. Same with football if you get more than 5 years in one place you feel lucky.

It depends on what your MOS is too though. I was in a very small community of soldiers where we all ran into each other almost no matter where we went. I served with some of the same guys from boot camp, through AIT, Korea, and Ft. Stewart, and that wasn't the exception to the rule.

Playing a sport is still playing a sport! The competitiveness, comradery, friendships are still on the playing field rather you get paid millions or not. Most of these guys grew up with football as their passion. Just because they start getting paid after years of playing doesn't change most players’ passion for the game

Just so you know, I would fabricate a phantom thumb injury for you any day, big guy.

It makes Fox and Hurney look like idiots because of extreme boneheaded decisions recently. Every question people wondered about Delhomme recently was answered. I'm sorry, but you cannot defend Fox and Hurney. Both put too much heart into Delhomme. Sadly, to the point where they blindly excused Delhomme's faults and in the process, ruined Delhomme's legacy.
