Anniversary Trip revised

methodtoll

Recommended Posts

So a while back I mentioned that my wife and I were possibly going on a cruise for our anniversary. After debating what to do and looking at all options, we decided to opt against going on a cruise and head to Viva Las Vegas!!!!!

We are thinking about staying at the Aria, which is the newest hotel in Las Vegas. We think it may be cheaper to fly out of Charlotte then it is to fly out of Atlanta.

I've been to Vegas once but it was when I was younger and wasn't at the age of gambling yet so I am really excited about this trip.

Anyone have suggestions on things to do in Vegas (other then spending your savings on gambling) ?

Go to some shows. Also, when you get to the hotel, sign up for the Player's Club if you plan on gambling.

They will issue you a card and it tracks your gambling habits. They use that info to give you comps and you can even get some upgrades for free.

When you call to get your reservations, haggle. The hotels will usually cut deals especially if it is "off season" or if NASCAR is not in town.

See O. Watch the Bellagio fountains. Go to a club if that is your thing, bump into a celebrity. Golf. Go downtown to a seedy casino and play $3 craps with salt of the earth folks. Eat a cheap buffet. Eat an expnsive meal in a unique restuarant. Shoot AK-47s. Ride a roller coaster. Helicopter tour of the grand canyon. get a hooker.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
