These are our 30 and older players--we look REALLY young now. With the FAs likely NOT comming back and others likely cut, we just got very young being able to lock down key rising talent for another stretch run over the next several years. We failed between 2003-2009 to get were we needed to get and in the mean time, got fairly old...not Tampa Bay old before having to do a total revamp. However, by recognizing that the older guys talent was waning, they decided to do the youth movement now. I totally agree with it, BUT it my take us back a step this year in young guys learning and building cohesion, although it will most likely pay off in 2011 and beyond.

Everyone on that list is a FA now except the kickers, Hoover and Smith.

Several of the contracts they are dumping though aren't expensive. This reminds me of New England. The sense was that they could keep dumping veterans and replace them with younger less experienced guys with no consequence. It worked for a while but bit them on the butt when they emptied their locker room of experienced veterans and replaced them with guys with little to no leadership qualities. I fear we are in the process of doing the same thing.

Yep, they had Diggs at a good price, They could've resigned Brayton for a good price.. Probably the same with Moose and McCown as well.

Agreed. My point is that sooner or later you start to cut into the core of your leadership and have few if any guys to look towards when things get tough. Even some of the old vets like Smith can't be counted on for team leadership. Outside of 2 or 3 guys on either side of the ball, most of the guys have been in the league less than 4 years. If we let Kasay go we will have few players for the young guys to turn to.

Teams can spend a lot right now, but when a new agreement is reached, they will be right up against the new cap if not over.

Now, most teams because of the 5-6 yr FA rule have tendered many players.

Next season, under a new agreement, will there not be twice the crop, twice the talent in the FA pool. And the teams that spent out this season on a terrible depleted crop of FA will find themselve cash strapped. The Panthers could find themselve in a situation where they have a lot of money to spend and plenty of choices.

Too bad they will have a slew of there own players plus draft picks to sign next year if A cba is reached.

I mean, Davis, WIlliams, Moore.........................about 80 percent of the core players will be a FA next season.

Point is the Panthers will have dumped many salaries this year and be able to sign theirs, whereas others will not have the same luxury.

Looks like this coming season will be tough, but with the new CBA, we should again flourish.
