HOF voters really dislike Cortland Finnegan more than Ken Lucas?

that's a name I haven't heard in a long damn time. he actually kinda balled out for us in 2015 after Bene and Peanut injuries

Steve Smith Sr. (2001-2016): 1031 receptions - 14731 receiving yards - 81 touchdowns

Andre Johnson (2003-2016): 1062 receptions - 14185 receiving yards - 70 touchdowns

Torry Holt (1999-2009): 920 receptions - 13382 receiving yards - 74 touchdowns

Reggie Wayne (2001-2014): 1070 receptions - 14345 receiving yards - 82 touchdowns

Smitty doing that with the QB play he had and in the offenses that he had (all run first throughout his entire career) really gives him an argument for being a top 3-5 WR all time. Only WRs I take over him honestly are Rice, Moss, Megatron.

Great receivers generally have longer careers than other football greats. It creates an unintentional logjam, but there's an overall logjam of players in general because of the small number who are recognized.

Still, it should be hard to get into the Hall of Fame. And Steve Smith should definitely been in already... it's as if our team's advocate/presenter either isn't very good at it or is soft playing the guy. The reasons for his induction are on tape... miles and miles of tape.

Edit to add: That being said, Julius Peppers is definitely one of the biggest game changers to ever walk onto an NFL field. He deserved that first ballot induction like no other. What a phenomenal athlete and fellow.

I don't think there is a better more entertaining highlight reel than a Steve Smith reel. He was the furthest thing from a one dimensional receiver and made an incredible number of defenders look silly. All the while playing in run dominant offenses with borderline pro bowl QB talent (3-4 years with a pro bowl QB if that).

You’re burying the lead, it’s really not even close. Not only does Steve Smith have better receiving numbers, now add in an additional 4,442 all purpose yards for Smith and 8 more TDs.

So for those counting at home, that’s 19,173 all purpose yards for Smith, 14,239 for Johnson. Nearly 5k yards difference. 89 TDs for Smith, 70 for Johnson. 19 TD difference.

The HOF should be embarrassed.

Just looked it up. There’s only 2…TWO WRs with more all purpose yards than Steve Smith all time. Tim Brown and Jerry Rice. Steve Smith #3 all time all purpose yards (#9 among all positions), #8 receiving yards all time, #12 receptions, #31 receiving TDs. The ONLY category that Andre Johnson is ahead of Steve Smith, is he is #11 in receptions and Smith is #12.

Stop kowtowing to this bullshit. It’s not even close and people should be outraged. Steve Smith should have been a first ballot HOF, never mind getting passed up for Andre fugging Johnson.

And Smith was out with injury in a few of those seasons.

Smitty also has 1001 yards and 9 tds in 11 playoff games. He also has a rushing and return TD in his playoff career.

I'm sure assaulting people on the regular, being the last batch from the look at me diva era, being a legendary a hole (despite fans embracing it and finding it fun") is going to work against him with the types that vote vs....folks like Reggie Wayne/Holt who also having icing on the top rings.  Not really caring to argue if it should it, shouldn't matter.  I think it clearly impacts things.

it took TO 3 tries to get in.

I think Larry is going to jump all the WRs who are in line.  And 89 is 3rd pre-Larry entering the mix.

It’s gonna be awesome when CMC is a first ballot HOF’er as a 49er. What a poo show the Fitterer experience was.

Did he get hurt week one this past season? How will his career be long forgotten? I don't know about first ballot but if production like this past season keeps up he will be going to the hall of fame eventually even if it isn't on the first ballot. There is a weird population of people here who love him more than anything else then another weird population that hate him more than anything else. I think he is a good RB and easily one of the tops in the NFL.
