Lewis said Thursday night he had gone to the Panthers asking for an extension recently, and their answer was an omen.

"I kind of figured when they turned me down it might come to this," Lewis said. "This is the business, and with everything going on with the CBA and a possible lockout next year, I guess I’m one of the victims."

Lewis said the Panthers did not bring up the possibility of bringing him back at a reduced rate, so he’s planning to look for work elsewhere.

Him re-signing doesn't sound too likely. Hope he does.

IDK about the rest of you, but I like what I saw from Leonard in the little bit of time we got to see him last year. He's a big guy with some explosion, and Tyler looked good too.

I also think we're trying to purge guys that don't jive with Meeks system and add guys that do, he didn't really have time to do that last year.

We're wasting our time cause Meeks will be gone this time next year along with Fox and Hurney.

I don't think a holdout is going to occur, but if Fox is gone, I'd really expect them to promote from within. After what I saw last year with Meeks and Davidson, I'm not sure I'd want both of them gone.

Some papers in Chicago are reporting that if the Bears sign Peppers, it may be the end of Tommie Harris. Would be a nice fit for the Panthers now if he could stay healthy.

Not a fan of this move. I understand the desire for younger players to get a chance, but keeping a little veteran leadership around is key. And if they were going to keep somebody, I'd rather it be Lewis or Hollis Thomas.
