Damione Lewis Cut!

Dpantherman

Lewis had every chance to prove himself as a pass rushing DT. He had the advantage of playing with Peppers, and a talented backfield. He failed to produce enough sacks and QB pressure to seperate himself from other cheaper DTs. It happens.

So if Brayton goes elsewhere & Kemo is cut the entire starting DL from '08 (and '09 before Kemo's injury) is likely gone.

I fully expect Kemo to be cut as well, he'll end up making a little over 4 million with his bonus and original base salary. We might resign him if he proves to be healthy though.

Panthers released DT Damione Lewis.

The Panthers inserted a $9.3 million option bonus into Lewis' 2010 pay last offseason, so he likely knew this was coming. While Lewis isn't a difference maker, the team will likely try to re-sign him. Defensive line, just head of No. 2 receiver, is Carolina's weakest position on either side of the ball.

I'd like you and everyone else to know that Kemo and Lewis are both due 9.3 million dollar team option bonuses in March.

If I were a betting man, I would bet that they would both be cut.

It only makes sense, remember when we were stockpiling young DTs through trades and waivers at the beginning of the season? Do you think that was because we were planning on tying up almost 19 million into average DTs.

I like both players, but neither are worth that much money.

The only way they stay is if they sign an extension (restructure deal).
