The Panthers inserted a $9.3 million option bonus into Lewis' 2010 pay last offseason, so he likely knew this was coming. While Lewis isn't a difference maker, the team will likely try to re-sign him. Defensive line, just head of No. 2 receiver, is Carolina's weakest position on either side of the ball.

Here's lewis' Contract information.

His base was 755,000 this season, but he also had a bonus due.(if the option was declined.) Which would knock his contact back up to it's original value of 4.05 million on the season. Adding in the roster bonus and he was due over 5 million on the season.

Well looking at the tenders for Leonard and Tank we are very high on those two guys. They can both do what Lewis did and they are younger.

We need people to rush the passer and Lewis did not do that.
