His recovering isn't going quite as expected. With his injury and how big he is, it'll be very hard for him to come back. I expect we'll cut him.

He had an infection. Then had to have another surgery so its not as bad as everyone thinks. He still prob want be ready for the first part of Training camp but who knows he might.

I'm actually glad this move was made. D-Lewis just wasn't cut to be a starter and he didn't deserve his option bonus coming up.

We have 2 NT already in Kemo and Louis Leonard. If we resign Thomas we will have 3. What we really need is a 300+ 3 technique DT. Jenkins was the last one we had that really fit in that role.

Louis Leonard wouldn't make a good NT imo, and Kemo is an extremely large man who is getting older and coming off a massive injury. Thomas is what 39? 1-technique in the draft or FA.

Leonard doesn't have the right build to anchor our D-line. He doesn't have a wide frame, nor does he have a low center of gravity. Actually, he's built more like a big DE, and we could use him at DE, or at DT to rush the passer. Putting him at NT would be asking him to play out of positon imo. Only in desperation should he be playing NT.

There is no question that he is physically a freak of nature. To be that tall, lean, and full of muscle, he belongs in the NFL. I'd rather he played beside a NT, rather than be the NT. I have a feeling I'll get my wish.

Thats a lot of cap money we have saved over the last few days. No Peppers, no Delhomme, an now Lewis. Not all of it can be going to current players. Makes me think we are going to sign at least a couple of free agents. Maybe a receiver and a defensive lineman?

To me I see it the other way around, Leonard at NT and Tyler at UT. Leonard was a straight up beast in what little he played at NT. Tyler looked average there to me. But I think as a 1 gap penetrator he would excel. To me it was like the Gross/Wharton argument from a couple of seasons ago. The argument was would you rather have Wharton at LT and be average or at LG and be exceptional (before we had Otah and Gross had to bounce back and forth between RT and LT and before he developed into a Franchise LT).

I think Leonard would excel at either position. But to me the best possible course would be to pick up another NT either in the draft (Torrell Troup/Dan Williams) or a FA and let there be a rotation. I see us doing like we did at G in 08 and sign a bunch of talented but cheap players and hope one of them sticks.
