If they cut Jake they only have to pay him the portions of his bonus that was guaranteed in his extension. His salary is not guaranteed. So Cut our losses eat the money in an uncapped year and wash our hands of this turd!!!!!!!!!

100% wrong...

Jake's extension last year has guarantees of 12.7 Million through the first three years of the deal, even if we cut him...

There are several triggers and options in it as to what happens if we cut him when, but long story short, we're on the hook for 12.7 Million regardless...

If we have to pay him that, might as well let him hold a clipboard...

...and I'm not saying that because I like him, because I honestly hope we never see him in a game situation again...

Dude, I'm always relaxed. I'm sorry but it's just common sense to me to have a back up with some experience. Sure, Jake had an awful season, but that doesn't mean he can't come in and win a couple of games for you if he needs to. My only worry, is if he has lost his confidence or not. If has lost it, then they might as well cut him regardless of the money, but if he's still confident in himself, he will want it that much more after it's been taken away from him, and he will work his ass off to correct his mistakes. I can respect a guy like that more than any 4th round rookie.

O I respect Delhomme. I respect what he has done for this franchise, but on the other hand his skills have diminished. Do you honestly think teams out their would pick him up as a backup over a 3rd or 4th round pick? He is the laughing stock of the NFL. He can have all the fire, all the desire, and all the heart u want but how can someone correct a mistake that he has made 5 million times already? He is done, washed up, and because our FO are a bunch of idiots he will probably be on our team for another 2 years.

100% truth.

If the Panthers could save any money this season by cutting him then they might would do it. But since we are on the hook for it anyways, and if we cut him then we will have paid him AND somebody else to back up.

That would make no sense, I never want Jake to smell the field either, but I dont wanna be irresponsible either.

While personally I would love for them to cut Delhomme, I don't see it happening.

Like others have said the team is already paying him might as well keep him around. Only reason I could see cutting him was if a roster spot was needed for somebody who they thought had potential and could contribute to the team. That seem highly unlikely though.

Hopefully he will never see the field this season. I can see him in a mentor type role for Moore and the other QBs. Could also be a good sideline cheerleader... Just please don't let him step back on the field again!!

The ONLY way I see it happening would be because Jerry says so...

It'll be his decision to swallow that pill this season and press forward afterwards...

But if that happens, I will be kind of pissed that we can pay almost 13 Million in one season for Jake to walk, but couldn't throw another 7 Million on top and have Pep for one more season... How is that for perspective?!?!?!?
