"I’ve never thought that they didn’t think highly of me," said Moore.

I can't really say Moore regress in 08 because of the fact that he got hurt in the preseason and never played the rest of the year.

It's funny though, that a lot of Panther fans were talking about him then just like they're talking about Delhomme right now. All it took was one bad pre season game and Moore was pure garbage to a lot of fans. Some people just have the attention span of a fruit fly.

Must be the same case with Kasay and Llyod because there is no reason we should be getting rid of Lloyd when he can kickoff like a machine and he can kicks field goals from 50+ yards out. We are letting the younger, higher potential player go so that our Vet, who is very loyal and who is loved by many fans mind you, can remain with the team.

I dont think we should keep kasay or lloyd. Lloyd cant kick a fieldgoal worth a damn and kasay is older than my grandmother. we need someone young at the position. its not like kasay was all that accurate last year.

I can't really say Moore regress in 08 because of the fact that he got hurt in the preseason and never played the rest of the year.

But he played in all four preseason games which is all most backups play in the NFL unless the starter gets hurt.

In the 2008 preason he completed 54% of his passes with a 52 passer rating. Compare that with his 2007 preseason where he completed 72% of his passes for a rating of 100 in limited work. Even in the 2009 preseason he completed 55% of his passes for a 58 passer rating.

The point is that since the games in 2007 until his breakout in 2009, there was nothing in his body of work or actions off the field to justify any confidence in him. Obviously things have changed and hopefully so has his attitude. Given that he is returning a week early for off-season drills and his new larger contract, this may be a good harbinger of a new and improved Moore who is working hard to become a "football guy".

Not tendering Rhys has nothing to do with getting rid of him. We are deciding not to tender him which carries a minimum salary requirement in the hopes that we can sign him when no one picks him up for half the going rate of the tender. As for kicking field goals, really who knows. I can't recall him kicking one for us outside of practice.

What I'm saying is, I believe Lloyd could handle kicking field goals, but he hasn't been given a chance outside of practice. I was saying the situation is similar to that of Moore/Delhomme. Therefore, it is relevant to the conversation since the OP was describing Fox's reluctance to start the younger higher potential player over the experienced vet at each position.

Only reason I posted was because I asked Llyod over twitter to not leave the Panthers and he said it isn't looking promising for him staying.

since someone keeps bringing up moore's lackluster preseason performance in '08, i'll bring back the question...just who was moore throwing to in those games?

can't remember? i'll remind you.

i pulled this from a discussion last fall about it....

he was throwing to 2nd teamers at best the majority of the time. most of the guys he was throwing to aren't even in the league. with the exception of a little while in the 1st preseason game, he never threw to the starters. in fact he threw once to moose and hoover and twice to smith and that was the only time he got to throw to any starters. he targeted 14 different players. 6 players are still on the team (soon to be 5 after jarrett is gone). the rest of the time he was throwing to the like of toefield, travis taylor, d. thompson, chris hannon, upshaw, birmingham, flemming. how many of those names do you remember and how many have you seen on teams rosters lately?

For me I never really put to much stock in preseason games because you get let down when they don't live up to you saw. And I know we all seen our fair share of that with players that use to be on this team. But I do see your point and it looks like he's making all the right moves to go out and try and win the job hopefully he does.
