Pep Rally Info?

In '03 my mom was the Charlotte city spokeswoman and told me how difficult it was because the city was so excited for the Panthers and really wanted to do something, but the Richardsons and Coach Fox wanted to do nothing at all (like GTG said, they thought it would be a distraction).

I'd be surprised if they agree to anything until the Super Bowl assuming we get that far.

We went to the Super Bowl that year so obviously Fox and Richardson were wrong. This city needs more diehard fans, doing things that involve the fans.... helps.

I wish they'd do something. Maybe all the talk will start once we know who we're facing. Then here on the board we can analyze and stratagize, but out there and in the media I want them to get people PUMPED UP. Tell us what color to wear, organize a Growl Towel give away, have a pep rally, release full page mini-section in the paper. I swear, if next to nothing special happens and it's just "another big game" I'll be pissed. I didn't start going to all the games until 2004 so this is my first taste of the Playoffs at home. Don't drop the ball. Oh, that goes for the players too hahaha.

I'd rather the players focus and for the town to do whatever it needs to do to facilitate that.

I had a blast at the '93 pep rallys as well, but in hindsight - they made us look like amateurs. I'd like to think we've learned a little bit since then. I have. If the team says ok, then fine, if not, leave it alone.

If we win the Superbowl there will be plenty of time to celebrate.

During the '03 playoffs it was fun, though, to go to the stadium late at night when the team was coming back from away games to greet the players. Did the same thing in '05 as well. There were at least a thousand people (probably more) that were at the stadium after the Bears game in '05. The players were great, and I'm sure it meant something to them being that it was pretty late at night.

The '03 experience was pretty great. People driving down the streets honging horns, people hugging strangers, the waiting....and waiting...at the stadium - the only downside to that was the WRFX dorks trying to keep up the enthusiasm with anything they could think of - at one point weren't they asking the crowd to cheer for the Tarheels or something?

I've always been the type to "act like you've been there" rather than the "mouth dropping in awe" type..... I'm glad the team is like that, the Cardinals celebrated last week like they won a Superbowl because they are happy just to be in the thing, anything less than a Lombardi and it is a disappointment for me.
