No opinion here for the races... but if you want to go to the masters next year... sign up for the practice ticket lottery... you may not get them, but if you do, they're cheap...

Practice Rounds

Tickets for the 2009 Masters are sold out.

Practice Round tickets are limited and sold in advance by application only. Applicants are allocated tickets on a random selection basis. 2010 Practice Rounds applications will be mailed in June, after the 2009 Tournament. Those people who applied in 2008 and/or 2009 will automatically receive an application for 2010 tickets. The deadline for 2010 applications is July 15, 2009. Successful applicants will be notified in September. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

If you are not on the Practice Rounds mailing list and would like to be added for 2010, please send your name, address, daytime telephone number, email address and last four digits of your social security number no later than May 1, 2009, to:

I went to the Brickyard for a few days with work one year and it was ok. Nothing great......I prefer tailgaiting with friends in Charlotte and going to the race over some swanky meet and greet with a bunch of people I don't really like. Pretty sure it was in July or Ausgust and it was brutally hot each day also.

ya...makes sense JR. I have a good buddy in Indy and he wants be to come for a race. I was there last year for a football game though...I think I need to spread my love around!

how far from Charlotte to Augusta...or other places to get a hotel/motel? I see the local places bump their rates to $300+

Charlotte to Augusta is probably about 2 to 2.5 hours... We always stayed in Lexington, SC or Aiken, SC when going to the Masters.

It's way cheaper than staying near Augusta and it's only +/- 45 minutes to the course from there... all we did was sleep there...
