My Deftones history and criticisms pretty much mirror j2sgam's...

White Pony was just way too emo for me... They should have stuck with the Adrenaline heaviness...

You may like this album then SLJ, it is much harder than SNW and gets back more to their original sound IMO.

I'll have to give the new stuff a listen when I'm not at work... Thanks for the heads up!

Although my tastes in heavy music have come a long long way since my Deftones days, I just happened to listen to Adrenaline and Around the Fur just last week... I remember how to play most of the songs (it isn't hard, bar chords and simple riffs), and Headup is still one of the best songs I have ever heard... Max Cavalera used to be my god...

Oh, and whomever mentioned the Engine no. 9 scene in Law Abiding Citizen... That was full of win!
