A friend of mine in the power industry sent me these... apparently happened sometime in January near Dallas, TX.

This is what 13,200 volts will do to you...

Pretty graphic images... and these weren't the worst ones...

Washington man electrocuted by urinating on power line

Grays Harbor County sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel (PIM'-en-tel) said Monday 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday and called a relative to pull his car from a ditch.

However, family members found Messenger electrocuted when they arrived.

Pimentel says Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch but didn't see the live wire. The urine stream likely served as a conductor, allowing the electricity to reach his body.

Moral of that story... be careful where you piss... :(

As a former electrician, I can say that it is rare to put over 12Kv through copper. Copper weighs a bunch. Normally the overheads are made up of aluminum cabling that has a steel conductor for strength.

I have seen those photos and much worse in my training over the years.

When I took Anatomy and Physiology for pre-med students (before I flunked out of pre-med), we got a visit from a lady in the burn ward. It was then that I was first exposed to the "fourth degree burn," or basically a burn down to the bone. The photos showed healthy skin, and then abruptly, what looked like a burnt chicken leg with black flakey tissue chipping off of bare bone. She told us it was rarely associated with fires, but rather electricity. She said these types of burns are usually seen after floods when people were standing in water and a powerline comes down. Zap.

It was on that day that I resolved never to participate in any activity that has anything to do with electricity. And I have stuck to it. The only time I have deviated from that resolution since college was last week when I helped install an Alpine system in my buddy's car and unplugged the car battery. Electricity is some scary shiz.

    • No high end HC candidate was ever going to seriously consider us, we were always only going to be looking at re-tread HC's who no other team would give another shot to or the young guys who weren't ready for it yet and saw it as their chance to jump the line Most of the pieces on this team were bad coming into the season and there's been a ton of injuries on top, I don't really blame Canales much.  At worst he's going to set up a better culture in the locker room with his up beat attitude and it will get it in a better place for the next HC after Canales is dumped following next season. That's another reason I'm against drafting a QB this year, we can't fire Canales after 1 year (as NOBODY would want that job).  Give him year 2 with a gap starter or young current backup (my vote is Hooker from the Lions) to see if he can do anything, if not we get a new HC with a Top 10 pick to choose his own QB.
    • I know it's not of popular opinion but at this time you cannot continue to dwell in & on  the problem any longer.no absolutely not  you have to get in the solution at the end of this season & you must set aside any emotional connection you have with this front office & current coaching staff .for years now & still this team is the worst team in the NFL showing no improvement not by accident you have to  hire a brand new GM put him in  charge of everything football related & i mean literally  everything & then GTFO out of the way as he brings in his own personal hand picked scouting department & hires his own coach & drafts the Qb of the future & most importantly creates an entirely brand new culture in Charlotte or keep what we are currently doing & accepting a different result...just saying
    • Sometimes a franchise is just cursed. They’ve looked inept with every coach/gm/roster tepper has put on the field.  You’d think eventually they’d stumble on a good player or coach but nah.
