How will Peppers be remembered by Panther fans?

One other thing worth mentioning...

The first game where Peppers has a highlight film type play will likely lead to pandemonium on here, with loads of people screaming "why didn't we keep him" :(

What needs to be remembered though is that highlight reels generally don't tell the whole story. "Highlight reel scouting" can make anyone look good. You need to see the whole game to get a true perspective.

He'll make big plays, same as he did here. In all likelihood, he'll also disappear for long stretches, same as he did here.

Point being that we should judge the worth of this decision on the whole body of work, not just the highlights we catch on ESPN.

I'm going to agree with the disgruntled fans. It's not only the fact that he wasn't a leader, that he didn't care about the city... it's the fact that after his worst year the Panthers FO offered to make him the highest paid DE ever and he snubbed them and then demanded out at the next available opportunity. He is a prick, pure and simple. He shat on his home state and couldn't care less. Peace out, Peppers.

IT Does seem as if he basiclly gave the FO the finger.. And everyone blames the FO for not franchising him....

Panthers made last-ditch run at Peppers

March, 3, 2010 Mar 311:20AM ETComment Email Print Share By Pat YasinskasWe’ve heard multiple times that the Carolina Panthers made at least two strong attempts to lock up Julius Peppers for the long term. But now we know there were at least three attempts, with the final one coming sometime in the past few weeks.

According to several sources, the Panthers made a last-ditch offer to their defensive end sometime shortly before they announced they would let him walk into unrestricted free agency. The offer was for somewhere close to $14 million a year, the sources said.

But Peppers declined and the Panthers promptly turned around and said they would not franchise him and would let him become a free agent. In the NFL, most things are usually all about money. In this case, I think we have the exception.

The Panthers offered Peppers a boatload of money (several times) and he turned it down. For whatever reasons, it seems his real intention simply was to get out of Carolina.Tags:Carolina Panthers
