Could Michael Vick be Headed Back to the NFC South?

We were still technically in playoff contention when Moore got the starting job and he lit up teams that were either fighting for seeding or playoff berths. Yes, those games did "count".

Being 4-7 and the way last season played out in the NFC the Panthers were NOT in playoff contention. There is a difference playing week 12 through 16 on a 4-7 team vs playing week 1 through 5 in a new season. I agree the teams the Panthers beat were good, but the Panthers were playing loose with nothing to lose. In addition D.Will and Stewart were running for like 200yrds a game. I am not trying to discount Matt Moore's performance. I think it is great he went 4-1 and gives us at least some hope. My main point is I feel going into traininng camp with just Jake and Moore is a mistake. I would like to see the Panthers bring in another QB to compete for the starting position - whether that QB be Vick, T.Jackson, someone else or even Campbell (I think Shanahan is going to keep him).

This franchis has had two lost seasons the past several years due to the QB position and it will be shortsighted to leave this team exposed again banking on just Jake and Matt Moore.

why does he "want" to be here?

cause it's close to home. maybe the added benefit of playing against his old falcons. he doesn't want to be a panther. he wants to be close to home. he wants a job. he knows that the QB situation here is more questionable than anywhere in the nfc south.

thing is, he'd be much better off bucking for a job with the redskins. QB situation is even more up in the air than here. they are willing to spend a lot of cash. they don't have the massive amount of fans hating him like he does here (wouldn't have to win fans over there like he would here).

respect.... but he wants to be here, thats something huge people are not quite getting. He can get his agent to talk to the right people in FO, and since qb pos. is hurting i think they'll listen, and he was in Charlotte this past weekend (ciaa). well see what goes down but im just saying how could you not you have to jump at opportunities (not saying he is an opportunity of a life time) but an opportunity none the less.

Moore > Vick

Onto the next one

So what you are saying is lets leave our QB position as it has been?? No competition, no real depth, depend on one guy and we are screwed if he doesnt pan out?

I am not saying Vick is the answer, but hasnt this franchised learned it lesson by doing the minimum at the QB position? I do have the gut feeling we are going to head into the offseason with just Jake, Moore, some scrub and possibly a late round draft pick. I just hope that doesnt come back to bite this franchise in the a** AGAIN!!!

At some point Moore is going to ask himself "what the hell else do I need to do?" and refuse to sign/get the hell out of town. You have players still endorsing Delhomme, team management that refuses to commit to him and all the guy has done when given a fair chance is bail out his team and win games. I don't think he's as good as some here do, but he's more than fine for what we need him to be: a high-percentage, safe, supporting guy to our running game. The only real knock I had against him was his arm and even that looked better the more he played.

You can't just asterisk every win he's had, either. Teams had film on him and he still did well. Every team he played (except the Saints) was playing hard and playing for better seeding or for a playoff berth. Yes, our running game was rolling, but that should be the case most of the time, it's how we're built. You need to focus on the fact that he still put up great numbers while that was happening and he didn't screw things up. He complimented the running game. He hit most of the passes he was supposed to.

That's basically all we need.

If you bring in Jackson, Campbell or Vick, say goodbye to Moore because the organization is announcing their faith in his abilities. Not to mention that none of the guys (except maybe Vick) is going to consider Carolina if they aren't at least strongly in the running for the starting gig. Then there's the money we'd have tied into that position.

Say we signed Vick.

Can you imagine the crowd reaction the first time he's announced onto the field at BoA?

Philly-south.

Matt Moore doesn't seem like the kind of person that cares a whole lot about whether he starts or not. Maybe I am reading him all wrong, it just seems like he is ok in either capacity.

It must come with his laid back approach to the game and could very well cost him a starting job next season.

All good points and I cant argue with them. That is why I am going to have to trust Fox/Hurney on this one mainly because we have no choice but to and its their job. I do feel much better going into next season knowing and see how the team played behind Moore last season.

Don't kid yourself. Matt Moore may say he will be satisfied with the decisions the Panthers management makes about the QB situation but that is only for show.

Matt is a competitor with a west coast layed back demeanor but you can rest assured he wants to be the man.Remember him transfering in college to be assured of a starting QB position.

If the Panthers start Jake Gohome in front of him this year,i expect Matt Moore to be looking another team next season, one that will give him a good chance to start.

Thats right, because giving Fox tough options, he's bound to pick the wrong one. Pick one of two QB's that aren't accurate over the one who's more accurate is something he will do
