The point is, both the Panther and Bobcat front offices have made some mistakes, both in the distant past and in recent years. To pretend that either is head and shoulders above the other is ridiculous.

Only the Observer claims an overwhelming amount of people want it changed. Whats funny is, the Observer is the main protaganist towards Bob and the Bobcats and most of people's misinformation has come from them. The Observer lays off 100's of people every year, has downsized tremendously, and now "borrows" articles from other newspapers to cut down costs. Yet, their writers are trusted by Charlotteans when it comes to running a successful business. The Bobcats will be in Charlotte longer than the Observer will.

That's why 75% of the votes at CharlotteObserver.com (which will be around for a long time, not the hard copy) want to change the name...all newspapers take articles from other sources. Associated Press??? where are you coming from with this stuff...seriously..

The Observer, like any newspaper, is only the opinions of a select few. And if your decisions hinge on the ideas of 1 or 2 newspaper writers then that's your own fault imo

The Bobcats did win and was selected. Why are you wasting your time on this? Oh yeah I remember, we have to stick it to the black owner. I'm sure him and Mike are itching to get on this. Its not like we're in the middle of a playoff hunt. Changing the Bobcats name is the biggest issue we have and the second we do, LeBron, Wade, etc will fall in our laps. Everyone knows the most important thing about an NBA franchise is how cool the name is.

Charlotte is a city that has been built, destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed, rebuilt, destroyed, rebuilt a million times over. So I can kinda understand why some of our casual fans and non-fans dont see the dumbassness of renaming a franchise 6 years in. 3 name changes in 10 years would make Charlotte look like a joke and a very insecure place.
