These HC hires have made me numb. I haven't made a comment on this hire because I simply don't trust Tepper can hire the right HC.

Instead of trashing the guy, I will just let this one play out. Hopefully he's better than the last 2 HC's Tepper has hired.

I think we are all a bit numb. I loved how Rhule seemed like he had all the answers. Sounded like a preacher. Turns out to be a used car salesman. Frank was going to bring the culture back as our first QB. His offense was bland and he was made to hire a makeshift ‘experienced’ staff. I think this time Dan can bring the culture, and Dave can light a fire under the team. Along with routes that can get our receivers open in 2.7 or less.

The hope is that the hiring staff actually hired them, and not Tepper.

Love the hire and I hope it translates into the football field. I will say that I get a much better feeling about him than Rhule or Frank. He seems young, hungry, and someone who will bring the energy to the team. It’s a huge bonus that we keep our defensive staff together as well.

No doubt we're numb and have zero expectations.  Only one way to go at this point.  With these interviews, it's just exposure more than anything, not really learning a ton. But what I will say...

Rhule was a used car salesman to a tee.

Frank spoke a lot without saying much.  Rambling non-answers with a bunch of platitudes.

This guy doesn't seem as annoying.  He's got energy and doesn't trail off at least haha

Yup. All I can say is that I don't dislike/hate/doubt it right off the bat for very obvious reasons like the past 2 hires. Would be perfectly fine if no one said another public word until the regular season rolls around... sick of drivel and meaningless coach/office-speak.

He seems more genuine than used car salesman Rhule and more energetic than sleepy Reich. That’s already an upgrade lol

Eeeeeh. Watch how he addressed the Teppers at the press conference - he was overly effusive and maintained eye contact.

He's as much a salesman as the rest.

Well he's got two things going for him.

He's actually coached in the NFL before unlike Rhule with one season of position coach experience. And he isn't a dinosaur like Reich.

Might as well let him show us something.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
