If you had to guess, what would you honestly give his chances of succeeding with the new coach and system given you already know his challenges we cant overcome like size? I want to be optimistic and he seems like a great guy so I would LOVE to see him succeed but its so hard for me to see it happening with what I saw of him this season combined with his physical limitations.

I guess all of that depends on what the definition of success is for young. For where he went and what we gave up anything less a handful of winning seasons and making a few playoff runs anything else would be purgatory and a complete failure

This is the worst case scenario. Purgatory. I want him to boom or keep busting this year. Make it clear. Either you're the guy or you're not. Don't leave us wondering.

I am telling you bryce is getting 3 full years.  Cutting bait after next year and a ton of folks will have to admit they were wrong and have egg on their faces.  I doubt Morgan can absorb a blow like that all things considered.  I dont think he would get fired but there would be a lot of folks fans and in the org that will side eye him.

Nearly all of the people invovled with the ultiamte decision to draft Bryce are gone, and for all we know Morgan wanted someone else. If Bryce flops this year I could very easily see them moving on Rosen-style, though even with the flop it's a low chance of happening.

it never would, both for morgan and canales I am sure they assured the teppers that they could make it work with him.   You dont/get take the job otherwise

i know i sound like a broken record but I cannot believe Dan Morgan looked at Bryce and thought it could possibly work. I have no reason to believe this. I have no evidence. I just refuse to believe an all pro caliber player who's playing weight is listed as 6'2, 245 looked at bryce and said "this guy can physically survive in the nfl." Remember there are quotes out there that bryce played at 165 his last year at Alabama.

I know that I make fun of people on here all the time for believing poo for no reason. I just cannot get my head around this fact.

If Bryce looks like he did last year again next year there ain't gonna be any fanbase left for year three.

remember when it was generally understood (and agreed) that one of the reasons the team moved on from Bridgewater was that his performance was so bad the fans wouldn't tolerate having to sit through it again?

The team probably wins the NFC south last year (or at least is competing until the end) with that production at QB.

I sure as heck hope not if we see the same play we saw this season out of Bryce. If no significant improvement then 2 years would be enough in my eyes.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
