Bryce Young’s Arm Strength

There is a lot of trash about Bryce’s arm here. Let’s not forget CAN sling it.

He doesn’t have a Josh Allen rocket arm. He doesn’t need it.

He has all the arm strength needed to be successful. What he needs is a pocket he can actually step up in and receivers who can get separation.

No, at this point he can't - it's not who he is as a player. When he winds up and puts all of his body into it he can get some velocity and a bit of distance, but downfield the accuracy goes away entirely. Anyone who watches this past season and still argues arm strength as anything above bottom-tier at the NFL level as of right now is deluding themselves.

He needs a lot for a #1 pick. He was supposed to make those around him better.

I wonder what Joe Burrow would look like without Mixon, Higgins, Boyd, and Chase and instead had Sanders, TMJ, Chark, and Thielen. I feel like some people in Cinci would be getting fired

I don't know that it really even matters much.  He can make every throw.  He just needs to anticipate throws more.   It's an NFL caliber arm even if it's on the lower end of the spectrum.

Josh Allen can wait and squeeze an 10 yard out in extremely tight window and late.    Bryce can make the same throw but has to throw before the separation occurs.

Realistically, he’s ranked probably around 25-27th of 32 starters in arm strength. Nothing to hide from, great play can outweigh it.

Somewhere around that.

You know who else didn't have a strong arm?  The GOAT , Tom Brady.    All that matters is that you can make every throw.  The rest just adds some flash and gives you a little more leeway in tight windows.

Can we put a ban on posting college highlights until our #1 pick looks like a #1 pick?

Seriously he just finished his first N-F-L season as one of the statically worst rookie QB's ever.

Hi Frank,

I think college highlights can be presented in an argument about arm strength.   Throwing the ball with velocity is the same no matter what league or competition it is.

Now if you want to argue results from college are no longer relevent, OK, I see that.   But his throws that went 50-60 air yards etc are still just as applicable now.

College highlights are as relevant as saying he won a Heisman.

None of it matters.

All that matters is what Bryce Young is going to do to improve physically and mechanically this offseason.

    • Mayes has a weight advantage at Center.  Christensen’s versatility is valuable but better on the outside than the interior IMO. Mays can also play multiple spots along the interior. I think we’re in the best position we’ve been in years with the OL.
    • Back n 94 or 85 (We had just drafted Biakabatuka and Moose) I was at an OTA in Rock Hill and I bumped into Donnie Shell, the player personnel director, I believe.  It was just after the AFC playoff final when Harbaugh was the Colt QB and he had a pass dropped in the end zone that would have beaten Pittsburgh.  I grew up a Colt fan--so I told him how it made me sick, and he laughed--very nice guy.  I then asked him about the Hall of Fame, and he said that he appreciated the thought and he prays for it, but there are so many of his teammates from that Steeler team who deserved it more--he said that it probably makes it more difficult for him because they do not want to let in every Steeler and they could argue that I was better because of my teammates.  He was very humble.  I told him that I was only a young kid, but I remember him bringing it just as much as the others--I was so happy when he was inducted--even after he laughed at my Colts.
