USA vs Canada II

Crosby is a great hockey player. He's good on the forecheck, the backcheck. He wins draws, has great vision, good shot, knows where to be on the ice. You can call him a bitch because he will complain to officials and go down to help sell a penalty. But the fact remains that he is probably the best overall player in the world right now. Don't even begin to bring Ovie in this conversation. He plays at one end of the ice and looks for cheap hits in the other. Hell, Kovalchuck is a better sniper.

Also, seriously does anybody do a better job of finding ways to be the difference when its gut check time? Didn't think so.

I can admit Crosby is the best player in the NHL hands down, no argument from me on that one. He's a great player, just don't like him all that much and would've like to have seen Staal score the GW goal if Canada had to win.

But since I don't like Crosby I'll continue to call him a bitch because he doesn't play for the Canes. lmao.

I won't argue with that. He pissed me off because he beats my teams, but I have a ton of respect for him. As much as the bitching from him gets old, its better than him trying to knee on knee hit people and poo like Ovie.

Thank you. AO is dirty a lot of the times. And sure he gets a lot of goals and points, but that comes in direct relation to the fact that he shoots the puck 50+ more times than anyone else every year. The thing I do like about AO is he plays every game really hard. But he thinks a whole lot of himself.

AO is lots of fun to watch, but like DirtyMajic and Mesmer said Sid is the best overall.

Sid plays no differently then Micheal Jordan played in the NBA, or Peyton Manning does in the NFL.

People just like watching players who get are physical. Personally I like watching AO better but Im far more glad that Sid is on our team.

In the US....it got a 17.6 TV share which = 1 in every 3 TV's were on the Hockey game.

I think I heard it was more than:

Any NCAA Final 4 basketball game since 98

Any NBA game since 98

Any MLB world series game since 2004.

Pretty impressive. Wonder what kind of rating it had in Canada? Gotta think it would have to be 90% or higher. I also heard tickets to the game were going for 10 grand each.

Wonder if the NHL can capitalize on this momentum hockey has right now?

That was a great game.

I heard one of the NBC guys say they saw a set of 4 tickets (cheap seats) going for $100k. That is crazy.

Their going to try that's for sure, but tickets were up to all the events in Canada....It's why London is looking at using a different ticket pricing system to lower the ticket prices.

yes...on a very positive note, I believe this game could propell hockey forward on both sides of the border. I have talked to many many non hockey fans in the US that said they watched and loved the game...too bad all them overpriced bums in the NHL can't play like this all the time.

oh...and FU too!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

WHAT A GAME!!! STILL IN MY JERSEY!!!!

So glad SO MANY Americans got into this tournament...a mean sh¡t 13 pages on a hockey thread on the Huddle brings a smile to my face =)

As for the Canadian viewership...80% of Canada had the game on a some point. Though they are estimating just under 50% watched the entire way through (which actually seems like a conservative guess) Was the most watch show in Canadian television history. No Stanley Cup final game or Winter Classic broadcast has come close to the viewership for Canada’s win.

Crosby's goal set a Winter Olympic record for Gold medals by any nation, and it was on home soil...biggest goal and greatest hockey game in Canadian history imo
