You do know that Gary Bettman is the commissioner, correct? I believe when asked this question he said that they have a game on Versus tonight.

There may be a little boost in ticket sales for the NHL for a bit. But playoff hockey should be pretty sick this year. I think a lot of people will get into that.

Helped, maybe, though it certainly had the capabilities to back fire...and at points it did (ie: last minutes vs. Slovakia)

TONS of pressure to deliver on home ice, especially on Canadian ice.

That is a good point....I have always been a Flyers fan and would watch quite a bit of hockey years ago and catch a few games in person when the Hurricanes played in Greensboro. When it got to the point that I could no longer find a hockey game on TV, I naturally began losing interest.
