Not being a big player in free agency? JESUS CHRIST DIE JERRY RICHARDSON YOU BASTARD

Yeah, that's an idea, but I suspect that the Cards are going to do what they can to keep Breaston. Moreover, what are the chances that we would even be able to land both Breaston and Walter (if J-Rich would be inclined to do so, which he probably wouldn't)? I just don't see that scenario happening. About the only way that i see Smitty ending up in the slot is if we get Marshall, and even then I would doubt it. Smitty has too much speed, too many productive years left (whether 3 or 4) and makes too many big plays to justify him being the traditional slot receiver. I know that Smitty has a lot of heart, but I don't know if his aged body (NFL-wise) could take the wear and tear that slot receivers sometimes have to take.

You dont see Smitty running routes like Wes Welker?

ahahaha that is the funniest thread i think ive ever read

"well you see he's a good ole boy, you just don't understand, letting horses starve is part of his culture"

"Well you see I'm not from the hood so I can't even imagine what it's like, you know, not even a good guess. You've never been a good 'ol boy and you've not from... West Virginia so you'll never know what it's like. You can't even guess. Just try."

"Incest?"

"DAMN!"

hmm, conservative owner overspending on a guy too late in their career and too early on a unproven guy?

Hits and misses are part of FA.

How the FO spends this year doesn't give us a window into the next 5 years. This uncapped can give some owners enough time to clean up the books and salaries and get thier house in order before 011.

Smitty can play the one, two, three or four slot. He is just that talented. But IMO Smitty is best utilized as the down-field threat. Sure he already runs routes like Welker sometimes (and takes the punishment that Welker has taken because of being hit). The coaches have basically had to move Smitty around because the FO has not given him any help on the other side that will keep the opposition honest. Moving him around is their attempt to get him open so that he can take advantage of his productivity. But Smitty is not a prototypical possession receiver. Honestly, he doesn't have the size (or the sure hands) that one would like to see in the slot position IMO. Furthermore, IMO, if you use him like one then you are not getting the most out of him.

You should try and get the Ferrari's on the open highway, not use them to run your everyday errands. Smitty is a Ferrari, and Welker is more of a Lexus. Sure, they both are great vehicles, but one is high performance, and you are going to do your best to get that Ferrari out in the open, where you have little traffic, and can put the pedal to the metal.
