Jordan agrees to buy Bobcats

The last NBA expansions of the past 20 years....

Orlando Magic...made their first playoff in year 5

Charlotte Hornets...made their first playoff in year 5

Miami Heat...made their first playoff in year 4

Minnesota Timberwolves...made their first playoff in year 8

Toronto Raptors...made their first playoff in year 6

Memphis Grizzlies...made their first playoff in year 9

The Bobcats are in Year 6. Expecting the Bobcats to come out the gates and be elite contenders is misguided. They barely missed the playoffs last year and won more games in year 3 than any franchise in NBA history (excluding the 82 Dallas Mavericks). Outside of the Sam Vincent year, the win total increases each season signalling the franchise is moving upward.

So basically what your saying is that 4 out of 6 teams in the last 20 years have made it their faster... SO like i said we have yet to really be competive. I mean I realize that the NBA creates a situation that expansion teams are supposed to struggle early and earn thier stripes so to speak.

My orignal response was that he said that Bob Johnson made us competitive. When in reality we have yet to be truley competive, until possibly the last few months. But even as I type this we are not in the top 8 in he weak weak east..

The National Basketball Association's (NBA) Board of Governors has voted unanimously to approve the purchase by Michael Jordan of a majority interest in Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE). The investment gives Jordan a controlling interest in the companies that operate the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats and Time Warner Cable Arena, located in uptown Charlotte. After a Hall of Fame career, Jordan is the first former player to become the majority owner of an NBA team.

Jordan officially becomes Bobcats majority owner

Spoke too soon. Bob hired MJ, and Larry Brown. He re-signed our all-star forward Gerald Wallace, and OK'd us bringing in Jack. If that wasnt trying to get us competitive dont know what was. Fact is, we've been competitive all this season and will make the playoffs at about the same pace as most NBA franchises. The fact that we've done it with half the city not believing in us or believing half-heartedly and another half still still bitter our founder was awarded the team initially makes it that much sweeter.
