With conversation about bringing in someone from the outside to help Morgan manage the cap and negotiations I wonder where that leaves Samir who supposedly was to be interviewed for the GM job.

I haven't seen or heard anything. Is he interviewing elsewhere???

I've actually been wondering the same time.

Canales is probably a better candidate than a lot of people realize. I wasn't familiar with him before this season but he's got a solid resume and has worked wonders for Baker Mayfield. He also was Geno Smith's QB coach in Seattle when he revitalized his career so he certainly seems to know how to get the most out of his QBs, even if they've struggled prior to working with him.

And let's not forget how Russell Wilson fell off a cliff as soon as he left Seattle. Did no longer having Canales as his QB coach play a role in that? Hard to say, but it's at least a possibility.

What made Wilson so great in Seattle was a good running game and receivers who were unbelievable making contested catches and diving catches on those rainbow lobs he always threw. Often it was impromptu and extending plays. When he went to Denver he wasn't and still isn't playing on a team built for him with receivers who can make him look good. He certainly isn't the one for Payton going forward. Maybe Canales best quality is adapting the offense to what the QB does best.

one of the articles i read about him pointed this out as being the case. i can't remember which article it was, though. i just remember seeing that this was something he was more intentional about and wasn't just talking about like others do. i remember also him being talked about as one who will look at a player's weakness and work with them to turn it into a strength.
