DeAngleo Williams thinks Jake should remain starter

Let me preface this by saying I was ecstatic when we drafted Deangelo, that I wanted to run with scissors pointing outward towards John Fox the entire 2007 season for starting Foster, and couldn't have been happier when DeAngelo went bananas in 2008 and had the best season ever for a Panther running back while completely shutting up all his doubters.....buuuut I've gotta say it since no one else has.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that Deangelo makes these comments when, like Jake, his backup came in and took some of the spotlight away from him with his performance in the last quarter of the season.

EDIT: Before some of you read too deeply into that statement, I am not comparing the wide gap between Jake and Moore's play to whatever gap may have existed between our 2 starting running backs.

I can see your point, but I really don't see any animosity between #34 & #28. I mean, between their doubletrouble website, them constantly being together on the sidelines, etc.. they seem to genuinely like playing with each other. they are both smart players, and know that they make each other better.

it seems every game is a constant never ending battle for the starting RB position. they each pull off insane plays that just make your jaw drop all the time.

I'm not saying there is any animosity between the two....Still though, #34 will potentially be a free agent this year and until Stewart went nuts in the last few games it was widely accepted that Williams was the better back by a reasonable margin. Stewart is younger and was running behind a line that was missing an All-Pro left tackle. With running back being a position that has a short shelf life, you have to wonder if the comment below didn't just apply to Jake.

The nature of the business is they want you out because they think the guy behind you can do a better job.

He is supporting a friend and his leader and there is nothing wrong with that. His comments will have 0 impact on who actually starts this year.

My biggest concern is not what Williams says, but what the coach and front office is telling Matt Moore. Hopefully, they are telling him he has the inside track to the starting role this year. They should be. They might not be saying that publicly, but they should be saying it privately.

...you guys take articles like this seriously

like the OP said, what else would you expect him to say? :out:

I know. As a fan, I consider myself in this group:

Matt Moore started after Delhomme was injured and played well. That’s made him a favorite with Carolina fans.
