DeAngleo Williams thinks Jake should remain starter

So you guys think DeAngelo has any say in who the starting QB will be in 2010?

Remember this: these guys love Jake, he is one of the unquestioned leaders in the locker room, so guys are going to be loyal to him to the bitter end. It's not to say that they won't back Moore or whomever gets the start, but Jake has been one of the leaders of this team for a long time and you can't expect guys to just dump him overnight because he has played badly.

This team goes after guys with character like DeAngelo, and loyalty is one of the most important aspects of good character.

Reason #324 to go ahead and cut Jake. It's not a "open competition" if everyone still supports him and backing him more than Moore. Gross and Williams multiple times have overly praised Jake. Even Hurney after Jake got his "injury" said that he and Fox still have confidence in Jake. Im hearing way more praise for Jake than Moore from people from our own team.

DWill can still talk positively about Delhomme without saying he should be the team's starter no questions asked. It isn't that hard to do. Or he could have said something about Moore. Or he could have said something about both, or neither. No other teammate has came out and blatenley made a statement like that after the season, or anything close, so using common sense should really make one think about this year just being a throw away with Jake for several obvious reasons, and at the very least just more evidence that Moore or anyone else will not likley start for the 2010 season.

If you say something STEVE SMITH wouldn't even say, you're outta line period

Somebody mentioned they're glad Moore isn't emotional like that. OF COURSE HE'S NOT, HE'S BEEN PLAYING AGAINST THE ODDS SINCE HE GOT HERE. But it still isn't right when he performs good, a starter comes out and vouch for someone else, someone who's played so horrible. Its just unfair, and not smart either to go public with it

You should support whoever is doing the job right. Mixing friendship with business has hurt us and will continue to

J.Stew has officially took over my number 1 liking RB on this team

Some people just need to chill out & breath. If that was Smith saying that instead of Williams right now, would you say that "Jarrett took over your #1 liking WR on the team"? Glad some of you guys are not running the team with not wanting a player on the team anymore or be the starter or whatever just because you don't like him defending someone you hate. Ridiculous. :frown2:

Thats it Trade D-will for wanting Delhomme to start, then fire Steve Smith because PantherDude created a hypothetical situation where he would want Delhomme to start.

Anyone else you want to bring down with them?

Thank you for saying the same thing 5 people said before you.

When did lobbying for a teammate to start become "defending" him?

:stirspot: Believe it or not, D-will would be the best possible candidate to lobby for Jake to start. Steve Smith has already worn out defending Jake and has took the stance of "I'm not the coaches". D.Will is an established leader, great player, and loved by the fanbase. He has the best chance of "turning" some fans off of the "Delhomme is a bum".

Too bad he is wrong and shouldn't say another damn word about the QB situation!

Great try, but Steve wouldn't and hasn't. He already showed his support for whoever comes in and perform well

I already was starting to love J.Stew from the end of the season along with Moore. This just make me like him more over D.Will... sorry :frown2:

No, you were starting to love Stew more than Williams after he made the Jake comment right now. Again I wouldn't be surprise if Smitty said the same thing, you wouldn't want him as #1 WR anymore. Come on! :P

And Smitty may not say the same as Williams, but I'm sure he still support Jake.

I can hardly believe this. DeAngelo doesn't seem to understand that the past is the past and Jake is not the same quarterback he once was. There will come a day when DeAngelo will not be the same running back as he is today and he should have a better grasp of this concept instead of talking about Jake's production years ago.

DeAngelo should just stick with running the football when the play is called and stop campaigning for a quarterback that has lost his edge. Maybe, trading DeAngelo to the Chargers is not such a bad idea given his latest comments in regard to Jake. The Panthers do not need a divided locker room or a quarterback controversy. Jake should be replaced as the starter.

You just don't get rid of one the best player on the team because of what he said. Ever. Unless you don't mind our RBs corps looking mediocre like against the Seahawks in the Playoffs 4 yrs. ago. And that if Stewart were to get hurt & Williams not there to help out.
