Odds we use next year's #1 draft pick...

Oh, and saying there will be no lockout because they will resolve it is shortsighted. Two years ago 99% of everybody was saying the exact same thing about an uncapped season.

I agree that anything can happen, and they should always prepare for the worst.. however, a lockout would lose BILLIONS of dollars. It'd cost wayyyyy too much for it to not be resolved.

With so many Jrs. coming out this year and the fact that if a new CBA is reached that includes a rookie scale, most Jrs. next year won't come out, the 2011 draft looks to be very thin espically in the top of the draft. Add that to the point Murph made about drafting players in 2011 with the possibility of them not even getting onto the practice field and I think a team or even two might look to unload their entire 2011 draft in order to get a player they really want i.e. Suh. The trick would be to get another team to take the bait.

Now, I'm not saying that this is what the Panthers should or would do but that the option could be a smart move. And don't forget, as I say this for the hundreth time, Hurney's contract is up May 1st. He will either save or lose his job in the offseason. What approach he takes to try and save his job is anyone's guess.

I think we'll use next year's first to move into the beginning of the 2nd this year, similar to what we did with Brown last year...

As it stands, we only have 5 picks... a 2, 3, 4, 6, and a 7...

I could see us using next year's first, and our 6th and 7th to get an early 2nd and a 5th this year...

This would leave us with a 2, 2, 3, 4, 5 setup, and I feel this would meet our needs better. We'd go for solid WR and DE picks in the 2nd, and BPA the rest of the way out...

I would be disappointed if this happened. At some point we have to draft at our position and deal with the trades we've made, especially while we're ahead.

Remember at the beginning of the season how everyone was in a uproar when it looked like we have given the 49ers a top 10 pick? That's the trade off of moving a future first round pick. The fact that we finished 8-8 and moved to the 2nd half of the draft the FO doesn't look as bad as they did when we started slow.

With the question mark we have at the QB position I would not want to use next year's 1st! If we need a franchise QB after this season, I would like to have the opportunity to draft one at the top of the draft, or the ability to move up even if we are in the middle of the draft in 2011.
