The emphasis on DT

No he is not a FA.But my thinking is that with his contract and a new FO staff will clean house and try to move him.

The only way I see us getting him is if they were to just cut him outright. If I recall correctly (too lazy to look up) he does have a big contract. No idea the salary he is getting though.

I think this one is sadly unlikely.

This was to be expected.. I think we've always needed to pick up a very talented DT more so than keeping Pep. It just so happens they go hand in hand...

You need a DT who can get a good push up the middle, and a DE who can get consistant pressure off the edge. This makes it nearly impossible for the opposing QB to buy time, or escape. The DT forces the QB back into the DE. Also, QBs play poorly when they can't get into a rythm by stepping into their throws.

We need a great pass rushing DT, and a great pass rushing DE. We had it when we went to the SB, with DT Jenkins and DE Peppers. That's how you go to the SB with a zone defense. Without Peppers, and with Lewis' limted pass rushing abilities, we are in deep trouble. Opposing QBs will drop back, wait for their recievers to make it to the soft spots in our zone, and make an easy throw to them. We can't allow that to happen. Major moves need to be made to find a great pass rushing DE and DT. At the very least, a DE, but it would be even better to get a DT as well. That's if we're expecting a SB run. If not, well hell we can go with what we've got.

Agree. It drives me crazy, the last two year seeing our DE get great pass rush but with no push up the middle the QB just steps up and gets a pass off.

Well if Jenkins had been a team player and not shot his mouth off. He may have been right about some things, but we lost him as a result. Big loss, and he wasn't replaced.

What makes it worse is the FO hasn't even tried to replace him. Not in even in the slightest. We got destroyed against the giants which was clear indicator that depth was horrible, and they rolled the dice again with disastarous results.

When he got the start when diggs was out I think he held his own.

I am not sure which games you are talking about, but I don't thin Conner EVER started at OLB for the Panthers last season. When Diggs wen down, Johnson started. Anderson aslo got some time at OLB. Conner always backed up the MLB position.

I could be wrong.

Yeah, I'd like to see how our defense does with an extra blocker freed from having to double team Peppers.

On a side note, where do you foresee the most competition this offseason?

FS, QB, DE, or DT; and how many draft pics do you see us spending on special teams help?

The most.Has to be DT..we have a million of them and only 2 maybe 3 spots open

Def agree with you.. I'm going with the idea that we are set at DE more so than DT.. We could use a strong/solid pass rushing DT more so than a strong/solid DE.. I think we are good at DE.. We could lose Pep more so than ignoring a strong/solid DT..

I feel Johnson and Brayton would be solid, with an up and coming DE in Brown to fill in.. A DT has been a much more obvious need for us than keeping Peppers..

IMO...
