Alabama QBs are the new Ohio State QBs

Mac Jones, Tua, Bryce, Jalen Hurts... all of them looking like flops. Mac is terrible, Bryce looked like the worst QB in the league, and Tua has one of the best amounts of talent in the league behind him and can't get anywhere in the playoffs.

We got fleeced by a school that repeatedly pumps out limited prospects

QBs coming from dominant programs warrant a lot of extra scrutiny. They're enjoying a huge advantage that they won't have at the next level. Namely that their surrounding talent won't be head and shoulders better than the opposing team's week in and week out.

Do you not even see a little irony in that this exact same argument was being made of why CJ Stroud supposedly wasn’t going to work out in the pros?

Nope. He required extra scrutiny too. We just got it wrong like we have virtually every key decision during the Tepper era.

System QBs that can't carry poo. Will look OK in a perfect situation but lean to hard on them and they snap. Don't care about the school, it's all in their evaluations if you don't have blinders on. You can win with them but if you get a chance upgrade and never look back.

I wouldn't say Tua and Hurts are flops.  Future hall of famers, no.  But not flops.

Fwiw, I don't think any Ohio State qb has ever won a superbowl.  Three bama qb's have won a super bowl, Ken the Snake Stabler, Bart Starr, and Joe Namath.  Its been a while since it happened.

It certainly is easier to succeed and look great at schools like Alabama and Ohio State.  So maybe their college results should be taken with a grain of salt.

Tua and Hurst aren’t flops. That’s just a silly statement

Draft the player not the school. LSU had a loaded team around Burrow. Stroud’s team was loaded as well.

The loaded teams just make it a much harder evaluation IMO. You gotta try to envision what this guy would look like if the talent surrounding him wasn't hands down better than the opposition week in and week out and that's tough.

Lol

Jalen Hurts was literally in the SB going toe to toe with Mahomes.

Let's settle down.

It comes down to consistency with Hurts. Seems like every time I watch him he either looks like an MVP or a guy who needs to be benched and nothing in between.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
