PLEASE DONT PAY RB'S!

man some of you guys would would make horrible GM's. RB's really are a dime a dozen and we have another 1st rounder on the bench. Use em and lose em. Follow the Denver model.

Like Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams does not fall in the "dime-a-dozen" category of RB's

First, if RB's are a dime a dozen, every team would have a dominant running game.

Second, if they were easy to replace, then we would not have struggled to find a decent one before drafting DWill.

Third, we are a run first team. Fox wants to pound the ball. You need two studs to do that.

We have limited playmakers on offense...Smitty, Dwill, and Stewart. We need more playmakers....not fewer.

I love Williams, and I think he's one of the best flat out playmakers that this team has ever had (outside of Steve Smith for sure). But I'm just not sure about giving him a monster deal. How much longer can he really play at the level he's played at the past two seasons?

I know it's a discussion for another time, and there's sure to be a shitstorm about it until he's locked up or gone, but I'm just not so sure.

We have a young, solid roster and money to spend. Suddenly Hurney doesn't look like such a fool.

Most RB's can maintain a high level of play for several seasons. LT was dominant for most of the decade, and that was with him getting well over 300 carries EVERY SEASON. 30 is the age where most RB's tend to fall off, and DWill is 26 with only 700 carries on his odometer. When RBs are only getting 250+/- carries a season, their careers are longer.

Not to mention D-Will is elusive, kinda a Barry Sanders-esque type of running back(no I'm not comparing him to Sanders, just saying he follows that same style of minimal contact running.) so he is less likely to have injuries like Adrian Peterson would because he's a physical 'plow you over' back.

Personally, I'd bring in a quality FA QB to compete with Delhomme and Moore and also a top notch WR. I would then lock up core players like Beason, Davis and Kalil. I would see what kind of offers I could get for D-Will to get back in the first round this year and take the best DL on the board--if not lock up D-Will as well.

I think it is naive of Hurney to say that he's looking hard at the draft to fill holes when we are out of a first and fifth round picks. Relying on a second, third and fourth rounders to fill our needs, THIS YEAR, is a bit foolish. We lack only a few pieces to get to a Super Bowl this year and one or two potentially starting rookies isn't the recipe to get there.

i personally think that we have such an amazing running game because of the o-line. Dwill has tonnes of tallent to be sure but I think in order to have a dominate running game you need more tallented linement then a tallented RB.

Take SEA of old, MIN the year before AP was there, Tayler ran for 1300. NYG anyone can run for them, and the ebst example is Denver. Build a line and any RB can get 3-4 yards.
