Everette Brown will have more sacks than Pepp in 2010...

There's no way E.Brown has double digit sacks next year. I'd love that though, but he's just not ready. He has the speed, the motor, and some of the skills but he still needs to bulk up. I don't want to see any more plays next year where Brown gets pushed into the dirt.

i will be interested to see the rotation that develops at DE this year w/ the guys currently on the roster assuming brayton is brought back. i think we will have a soid stable of DE's, not just one stud. the sacks may get distributed amoung all those guys more consistently. Hopefully we can also get more inside pressure this season, switching to meeks smaller, quicker type DT's. it will be interesting to see how well this suits Brown's skill set.

I am more concerned about him being solid against the run so he can play every down this season, and give more oppurtunities to wreak some havoc in the backfield.

I've been a Charles Johnson fan since we drafted him, and in a perfect world Johnson would/will stay healthy and start at one of the end positions because frankly he has more talent than Brayton, who could be used in running situations while Brown and Johnson start. But I'd like to see us sign or draft a DE, hopefully Aaron Kampman. Kampman is a better pass rushing version of Brayton and the same age. Also, can we PLEASE get Hilee Taylor more involved in passing situations?

My outlook on the d-line is this. We need help at End and Tackle. Find one of the two in FA, either Kampman at end or possibly Tank Johnson at tackle, then draft for whichever position isn't addressed with a FA signing.

I personally would like to see us shift and build a D-Line more geared toward stopping the run with the exception of Brown starting and Taylor coming in on passing downs. This is why I would like Kampman, he can do that and rush the passer.

Not sure I see Brown as an every down DE yet. He needs to put on a little muscle and strength.

This season, I see Johnson and Brayton as the starters. With Brown coming in on passing downs....sliding Brayton in to the DT spot.

The guy had 4 1/2 sacks in limited time. Not to mention a buttload of hurries (almost sacks). What makes you think that with a year under his belt, more strength and being full time he won't record at least 10 sacks. I think 10 is very achievable and he will make JP a distant memory before the end of 2010.

Everyone should be happy we got Peppers in his prime, had him for 8 years.

It's time for some young guys to step up and also we save up money not having Peppers anymore. I mean good lord, Charles Johnson and Brown probably will take up only a quarter of salary of what Peppers wants.

Not you too, Zod. There you go again. Not saying that you're right, but you and the rest of these youngsters should have watched enough football to know that you can't and shouldn't gauge the value of a DE by the number of the sacks that he has. This is a faulty litmus test that leaves all the other important variables out of the equation.

Pep is an athletic enigma that facilitated others on our line to become better, and had such an impact on games that he greatly affected the outcome. When Brown has that kind of impact, then you can make credible comparisons and/or prognostications.

The idea that others were getting sacks because Peppers was being double-teamed is pretty much bunk. Go back to Scott Fowler's mid-season article where he watched tape and counted the number of times Peppers was getting double-teamed... bottom line is that most of time time he was not.

I love Peppers, but I'll also be the first to admit he was overrated in many ways. He is an athletic freak, and Al Davis kind of guy... height + weight + speed... and when he was "on" he was a marvel to watch, but like many others have pointed out - he picked his shots and most of them resulted in sacks, but we might actually be better off if we can find a pair of DE's that apply constant pressure to the QB and produce less sacks.

Sacks are like the home run of Football, they are only really meaningful if they come at the right time.
