As we'll see in other threads, Hurney said today in his press conference that they "build through the draft" when asked about FA and also when asked about a WR. He also said they don't know who they starting QB is. But the reporters got the vibe that there will be little splash in free agency.

It's hard to build throught the draft without a 1st round pick.

the steelers, patriots and colts have won a total of 6 superbowls this decade, been to 8, and have been knocking each other around in the postseason all year long like 2 chinese ping pong players. not to mention they play in the vastly superior AFC and pretty much dominating on a year-in year-out basis... all while making almost no big signings in free agency. the redskins and cowboys have done what again? make the playoffs a few times? the only reason they still have such a large fanbase is because those owners shove oodles of sparkle and pizazz down their fans throat's. also, a lot of the fans for those teams aren't even big football fans, and just claim them as their team for the name alone.

Steelers, Pats, and Colts are way better at drafting and don't get attached too player so bad that it's clouds their better judgement. Now we can dog the cowgirls and I hate them with the most passion but they have been too the playoffs more then us in the last 5 years. Now your right about the deadskins.

Why are you being such a prick??? We are on the same team here. All I'm saying is what alot of fans are saying. If we lose Pep (which is OK) but their is no way you can stand pat thinking anybody on this team or anybody we can get in the draft will fill that hole for next season.

Being a prick is taking Hurneys statement stating we build during the draft and trying to make a smart remark insinuating how are we going to build thru the draft when we have no first round pick...

What did you see last year that showed that Brown is ready too take that job? Brown was not suppose too be Pep's replacement. If you go by Marty Hurney. No I think they felt they would find away too keep Pep and have him and Brown on the line. So you are wrong about that.

History has proven it usely takes 3 years before a wr can be a factor on your team. This position needs a vet and a rookie too be safe. Not too mention a kick returner.

We have young DE getting another one in the draft won't help us for this year. We need atleast 1 vet too help the transition.

you missed the part where he said we drafted everette brown in the first.

i think what most people are missing is that people are not mad that pep is gone. so much as we really didnt have a exit strategy for him. when you have a multiple probowl player in a situation where he can leave, you either prepare to keep him or set up his replacement. no matter how people scorn pep for hurting their vaginas, e. brown is not a replacement for pep. this is not to say he wont be any good, but he probably wont be pep good.

there is more to being a de than just sacks also. this is what i worry about with our young de's. flowing to the ball, run support, sniffing out screens and reading protections.
