Panthers Fans

I'm the first one to gripe about US.... the Panthers fans who leave at halftime when it's a blowout..... don't scream loud enuf, not like the dogpound guys in Cleveland or those idiots in New York..... wine and cheese fans...... BUT

Minnesota hasn't sold out their tickets yet????

Arizona hasn't sold out their tickets yet????

Maybe the Cats fans aint so damn bad after all... Our tickets were gone in what, 4-5 minutes....

This may be a stupid post, but we never say much good about Panthers fans.... Maybe after a dozen or so years, we are finally getting it....

Let's MAKE SOME NOISE next week!!!

After having been to several stadiums over the past few years, I feel better about us as a fanbase. We are not the worst I've seen, and not the best. Some teams seem to have better fans because they are in a dome. My g/f pointed out the metal flooring in some sections of the Georgia Dome designed to make foot stomping louder - we don't have those tricks, although I could swear I heard some crowd cheering running through the PA during the Redskins preseason game....

Monday night experience published in local print mag...

On Monday December the 8th the Carolina Panthers were on display at the virtual center of the football universe. This is not the first time the Panthers have played on Monday night against a divisional rival and it was not the first Monday Night Football game I have personally attended at Bank of America Stadium. But it was a first on several other fronts that are vital to the strength of Carolina as a franchise in the NFL. To name a couple of things, Jake Delhomme is starting to be utilized in what looks to be a smaller role of managing the stable of playmakers he has been surrounded with. Also, the rushing attack John Fox has been yearning for is finally not only two-pronged, but effectively so and is making huge waves around the NFL with its imposing will and staggering capabilities. The biggest “first” however that I recognized on Monday night was the support level from the fans.

Franchises, even those within one of the most popular and highly-marketed businesses of the world like the NFL, all need one common component for success. Fans. Every team needs them. From multi-million dollar network TV deals to the subtle and singular Carolina Panthers bumper sticker, without fans it just doesn’t work. However there are varying degrees of what a fan of a franchise can offer its owners and employees in the form of support. Dollars are always good and are usually where the support level for most fans begins but the true intangible that really makes the team go is the level of expressed admiration a fan shows on game day. Against Tampa Bay this past Monday night the sometimes fickle and oft ill-informed fans of the Carolina Panthers made what I feel to be a monumental step in this process of evolution. This particular game was a good test and I have to admit my prior reluctance to feel confident in our ability to shine as fans in these situations. Those concerns were quickly dispelled in the moments leading up to this game however as the level of anticipation amongst the masses was evident to the point of bombardment as I stepped onto the field and took my first looks around the bowl. I immediately knew we were all in for something special. I had never seen so many fans in their seats for warm-ups. I had never seen so many signs in the crowd as fans seized their opportunities to express respective wit and creativity. But most of all, the noise level was second to none of my experiences prior. The easiest thing a fan in the stadium can do is be loud and be educated on when to do so. Sure Jerry Richardson wants you to buy and model the latest Panther gear, eat your weight in Bojangles goodies, and consume all the outrageously priced adult beverages you can hold. That goes without saying. But the noise is what fuels the success of the team. That other stuff just pays the bills.

There has been no bigger game in the season for this team or any other thus far in 2008. The circumstances were practically monumental and the ramifications for playing flat loomed large for the roster and coaching staff. Fortunately the Carolina Panther players were able to lean on the Carolina Panthers fans for the juice to push them over the top. If you as a fan do not think you make a difference, think again. I am privileged in my involvement with SCM in that I do get a little closer to the players than most during a game but please allow me to express some irony in the thinking of some. The show was on the field, the direction and preparation came from the sideline, but ALL the fuel and motivation was from the stands for the first time I have witnessed. The facial expressions, comments, and respective energy levels of the players on the sidelines who are waiting for their chance to contribute is masked to the media as much as possible but still extremely easy to sense. The fans have the ability to fire up or tear down the players, not vice versa. I can tell you for a fact that the sideline demeanor of even the smallest contributor changes remarkably when the fans pipe up. I overheard and conversed with players, staff, TV crew support, and even security who were all very impressed with our fans during the game that was played on the national stage. Be proud of yourselves those who were there. You made a difference. And for those who were not, be sure and do your part when it’s your turn.

Another page has been written in the story of Charlotte, North Carolina and the Carolina Panthers. For most of the history of this franchise the Carolina fan base has faithfully spent their money on tickets and sweatshirts, kept the beer stands in business, and stuffed enough nachos to rival quarterly sales figures for Taco Bell. It was glad to see that they, no, that we have taken the next step in supporting our home team. Go Panthers!

Can you put up a link and/or edit it a slight bit?

I appreciate the point the writer is trying to make but it reads more like a college term paper than an information piece.

still a good find, but you need to give the credit for it by posting a link or we'll have to edit it.
