If bryce cant be fixed under the Shanahan philosophy then there is no hope. And i mean that. It should be immediate improvement.

I hope the entire interview committee is telling all these prospective candidates that we're obviously giving Bryce all of 2024. But without improvement we can start looking for replacements as early as 2025. If we're pitching this job that it's Bryce or bust I'm staying far away. And I'm someone that hasn't been near as critical of Bryce as most of this board has, I still have hope for him. But we need to see improvement next year.

No matter who we hire. I have a feeling the new coach will have a much longer leash than Reich. Especially since we have a first round pick in 2025.

Is that because David Tepper has learned his lesson or because he knows people think he's horse sh-t and he doesn't want to look even worse? 🤔

I think Reich would have survived if we had of kept our first round pick.

Reich was on thin ice as soon as he went public about the Monday morning dates with Tepper following the Lions game.

I'm surprised we don't even have a slight read on the top HC candiates at this point. I would have thought we'd have a decent idea on the top two names. It feels like it really could be anyone at this point.

Once they announce the 2nd interviews we’ll have a better idea.

Both but probably the latter. But the coaching list this year is much better and if you hire someone like Slowik you need to give them a long leash.

Note that we HAVE to interview two external minority candidates in-person to satisfy the Rooney Rule, so I'm fairly certain Raheem Morris is going to get a second interview (I'm actually not even that against it, he was hired super young in Tampa, won 10 games his second season, and has worked on both sides of the ball). I bet the other in-person Rooney Rule candidate is Canales (he's hispanic so fulfills the Rooney Rule requirement). And honestly, if Ben Johnson goes elsewhere and Slowik stays in Houston, I wouldn't be all that opposed to either Morris or Canales.

My guess for second interview requests;

  • Ben J (possibly denied/hired elsewhere)
  • Slowik (possibly staying in HOU)
  • Canales (Real interest/Minority Interview)
  • Morris (Real interest/Minority Interview)
  • Evero
  • MacDonald

Back up options.

  • Callahan (if one of the top 2 don't take 2nd interview)
  • Brian J (Backup Minority interview)

I DO NOT think they all get interviews, but it depends on how the first 2 guys shake out in terms of taking the interview or not.  This is also not a list of preference, just listing them as I thought of them (So maybe it is kind of preference... idk)

I truly think if Morris can bring Zac Robinson and keep Evero as DC, we will be cooking with fire.

Morris is ready for a second go and had the Rams D playing very well over the past couple of years. He knows both sides of the ball and is very highly thought of around the league. Having connections and respect around the league needs to be at the top of our priority list.

Carolina's vacancy is the most tarnished of all open HC/GMs. I wonder if we would tap Greenberg from TB as the GM with the connection they both have. Not the greatest GM option, but I wonder who else would work well with RM.
