I hope we get somebody good but for all the reasons mentioned somewhere in the thread we probably are not.

Fans keep asking why do these guys take the interview if they are not interested. If you are in the corporate world you know exactly why, it is a negotiating tool, it drives up your price.

Right bc why wouldn’t you want to at least try and interview one of the best coaches in football?

Because you want to remain the Alpha…the real Alpha would rip someone up…the fake Alpha would throw a drink.

Schuyler Callahan per Hondo (Raiders beat writer) thinks we're making a strong push for Champ Kelly as GM. Callahan thinks Brandt Tillis may be the guy. If you want to hear, here's the link (start at about 28:40):

https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/podcast-panthers-gm-search-picking-up-steam

In other news, Graziano predicts Brian Callahan to be the guy at HC.

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2024/01/17/espn-insider-prediction-panthers-hc-search-brian-callahan-joe-burrow-bryce-young/

The article mentioned that it's difficult to predict the HC due to the (Tepper) situation.

I'd be remiss not to mention that Morgan seems to be high on the list for GM. There are thoughts that Tepper wants to keep him in some capacity.

Well the premise that I responded to was “if he doesn’t want the job”…so that would be the reason. You’d just be interviewing him for appearances, which is a waste of everybody’s time. Also you really have no idea if the team has reached out to Harbaugh because he’s not an NFL coach and it wouldn’t be reported.

You’re absolutely right, that’s why I’m going with we should interview him. Until I read or hear that he said no or we don’t want any part of him, I will go with my statement of we should at least try.

It's been reported that harbaugh has asked twice about the Panthers. He clearly wants the job

i could see it possible that we have reached out and he’s not answering. if it’s true that he has reached out to us, and we’re not answering, then i’m fully on board the Tepper is an idiot wagon.

From the writer...

If that's true, damn 😳

That was last year and they reported that he still is interested in being here

    • He can say what he feels, but he's not saying "the previous year, the team wasn't very good" he directly called his teammates out and in a way that is flat-out not true. "You are your record"? Oh ok, he's only had 3 winning seasons, but in my mind he isn't a loser, and I bet he isn't in his either - cause football is a team sport and wins and losses are on the team, even when one really bad player (Jimminy Pickles) can basically screw over everything.  And this comes on the heels of his thing about the MVP, which is fine, but also selfish. His teammates consistently went to bat for him... Just feels like he's more about himself.
    • Good point--I think this draft is great for us at this time--At the top of the draft, the DT (DEs/NTs in 3-4) are loaded.  The Edges are deep.  We need to double dip there--hoping to move back so we can add three players to that pool.  In free agency, if I were Morgan, I would focus on DBs and  ILB--fix the back end of the defense.  If he signed a S, CB, ILB, and TE, it would be cost effective.  In the draft, DE, Edge, and WR should be the priorities.  After that, OL Depth, QB depth, DB depth, RB depth.  My Free agent Targets:  TE: Juwan Johnson, Saints.  29, had over 500 yards with Saints. S: Julian Blackmon, Colts.  He will be one of the top free agents--gonna cost us, but not like an edge or WR. ILB: Tyrel Dodson, Dolphins.  80 tackles on just 854 snaps--under 27 years of age. CB: Mike Jackson, Carolina.  He is 28 and had 3 picks and was on the field at all times.  68 PFF score. NT:  best available for Evero's system.
