I’m old enough to remember him being in here advertising his failed pizza restaurant. Is that who we want running this thing? It might be the best we can do though.

People fail at business ventures all the time. Doesnt mean they are not cut out for other lines of work. He may not have a pizza restaurant mind but he could have a football GM mind. Beane turned out pretty decent so far and we couldnt judge him by Hurney

Tepper is an investor, I am not sure he would've just latched onto something without getting info on it first.

I can very clearly see Fitterer selling Tepper on Young. Fitt consistently tried to big brain people and got burned. Makes perfect sense he thought he was getting super processor Bryce young.

Nope, I see it the other way around.  Fitterer is gone, so no need to defend him.  I think Tepper told Fitterer to move up for a QB. He did.  I think Tepper and his analytical side got sucked in by the S2 test.

There is NO WAY Frank wanted a 5'8" QB. If you somehow honestly believe that, I've got ocean front property in Kansas to sell you.

I mean, Tepper wanted his org to have the #1 spot.  So he did that.  He wanted them to be able to have whoever they wanted.

I think you misunderstood my post.  Frank was a vote for CJ.  I think Fitterer and his team were a vote for Young.   So in the end, it was Fitterer that convinced Tepper to go with Bryce.  If Fitterer had been a CJ voice.....I do not think we draft Bryce Young.  Because that meant Frank and Fitterer would have been CJ votes and therefore Tepper doesn't go against both.

I loved Dan as a player but it would seem that this inside info only confirms that he doesn't have the influence to persuade Tepper to avoid signing off on dumb decisions.  He may have "butted heads" but we still did dumb things.

Without debating the Bryce decision, there are still the assets burned to MOVE UP to take busts like Matt Corral and DJ Johnson, never mind using a pick on a long snapper.

So was all that about Fitt walking into Frank’s office and him saying “it’s Bryce” a fabricated story by both?

I 100% believe Fitterer and his team ultimately sold Tepper on Young.

as bad as Tepper sucks, I don't actually think he would have run counter to Frank and Fitterer.

I agree with this

I felt like Fitterer thought, really thought, he was getting Russell Wilson 2.0

…a better version in his mind

Or maybe if he disagreed, Tepper now realizes who the voice of reason was in the room and gives him the power to get things back on track?

I mean, NFL teams and major corporations routinely sell false narratives about their decisions.  A decision gets made and then they all pretend like everyone agrees.  It's repeated every year by every team.

His only FA success was Luvu. Remember, his job is veteran scouting/acquisition for this team. Morgan is not someone to lose sleep over if he's not considered.  Let the analytics people/search firm come up with the list and see if his names on it. My guess would be no.

Luvu is a huge add. Thelein has been great. Chark ... Is what he is, but he'd have a career year with a different QB.

I'd let the firm do it's job for sure, but I bet Morgan is more competitive than he'd look to us  fans given Fitt.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
