Goodbye to Julius Peppers: Panthers to explain why

I personally think he is headed to Atlanta.

I also think the Panthers will match and maybe beat anything he would get from an outside team. But this is based on me believing no team is going to offer a ridiculous 'Haynesworth contract' especially with a 30 year old.

So it really comes down to whether Peppers genuinely wants to play somewhere else or stay here. Technically Peppers best chance for a super bowl IMO would be the falcons, a fresh QB, who can actually throw the ball and a great RB in case he doesn't feel like it. Plus he will of course play the Panthers twice a year which could satisfy any spite he may have to the fullest, and carries experience playing ALL the NFC south teams twice a year, for eight years. To me this would make the most sense if he doesn't stay.

Decent rookie year for Ryan. Bad Sophomore campaign. And Turner is one of those 2-3 good year RB's. He will have no sustained longevity or talent. So I'd say peoples hard-ons for the Falcons should be quite flacid in reality.

The answer should be because "we are a bunch of boobs...". I bet that second round pick offered by NE last season looks pretty good right now. Instead Fox/Hurney retained a player, paid him 1 million a game to do nothing for a 1/2 season last year, then audition the 2nd half for his pending free agency this year.

What second round pick? He didn't sign his tender till TC. The FO couldn't negotiate.

All i said is their QB can throw which shouldn't be an argument. Also the only reason Turner will last that long is because the Falcons are using him wrong and give him more carries than any RB in the league, they are wearing him down and almost guaranteeing down years in between. But with a new QB who may not be great, but can throw, I think you'll see more passing from them.

Regardless the Falcons are set up to win coming around more so recently than before.

I know the front office couldnt negotiate, but that rumor about NE giving the Panthers a 2nd round pick was right around the same time Belichick came out and told Pep to sign the tender. There is no way Belichick does that unless there was some truth to it.

My biggest beef is the light should have gone off after Pep didnt sign that long term deal after his horrible '07 season. To lose Pep for nothing is a mistake no matter how Fox/Hurney spin it. I am all for the franchise moving on though. My only hope is they dont do anything stupid to make up for it by making some dumb trade to try and get back the 1st round pick they traded away last year.
