season is over, are there ANY bryce believers left on this board?

No one thought he would fail this miserably and in this way and if you say you knew it you're a liar.

The issue most has was he was too small and would get hurt part way through the season.

No one expected this level of ineptitude. No one.

I never had anything against people being hopeful but It was taken well beyond that. Some vocal people treated it like a "Im right youre wrong, Bryce will be the best ever"  sort of poo. Thats what irritated me I almost got banned for saying Bryce might not succeed and that his size doesnt inspire confidence lol

Yeah it drove people off for damn sure cause we couldn't dare suggest BY9 wasn't a generational talent, much less suggest he was not really that great.

Yeah here. I just don’t think you can make a determination on any offensive player this season. I haven’t looked at final stats but think he ended up with more TD than INT and around 3000 yards in an absolutely terrible scheme, with a subpar OL and skill group, 2 HCs/horrible GM/worst owner in the league. It’s easy to put all the blame on the QB (which the huddle really likes to do) but I don’t think Bryce ever had a chance this year. He was setup for failure this year. Regardless he gets all of next year so we will see how he looks with a full NFL offseason and new coaching staff.

Even given that, how can you go through an entire season and not make one great play down the field? I don’t think this has ever happened

Can someone explain to me why from day 1 Bryce went into TC the starter? They had him making freaking adjustments at the line and didn't even make him beat Dalton (who proved against Seattle he was at least a top tier backup).

We even had a ridiculous shot to get within 1 game of the NFC south after we played Houston (where Reich knew he was on the hot seat) and Dalton was never given a chance.

I'm not saying Dalton>Young... The main thing

Hit enter on accident lol.

Main thing is there was no reason to get Bryce killed if he couldn't beat Dalton in TC.

I'll give him another year with (hopefully) good coaching a a real GM to put some talent around him. If he's looking the same midway through next season I think it's safe to say we have to move on.

This is the correct answer.  All the other answers are just hysterical boo hooing.

I guess I watched a different season. I saw a few seriously nice downfield throws just in the GB game. I know we’ve moved on to that game being a fluke but the throws were made on that day.

Because this year wasn’t about winning.. And Dalton is 34 years old..

He’s not good. It’s not a matter of weapons… he has terrrrrrible footwork and his balls float in the air … I can’t believe we passed on Stroud for a high school QB

we clearly have to give the kid another year, but I just don’t see it working out.

Maybe he’s good in 70% effort practices. In hindsight, It was clear from the first preseason real live action he was overmatched.

No. We have one more season minimum to give him a shot with hopefully a competent coaching/offensive staff and some weapons. He’s been terrible, but considering his circumstances and what we gave up, you go all in and give him a shot next year….thats all we can do. I hope he has an offseason dedicated to improving in all areas and that we see an improvement because I can’t take another season like this.

He's got eight or nine more games to prove that he has a future in the NFL. A season and a half worth of starts is the consensus amount by which to judge a QB's potential.

By the middle of next season we should know if he's the future of this franchise, or a future backup, or should be cut.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
