this is my thing, why not do this last year?if we all knew it would come to this, why the fo didnt.

Because we needed Peppers last year our DE position was really weak. Picking up Brown and Johnson extra year experience helps us cut Peppers lose. Not saying they will excel more than Peppers but they can do the job.

If they're going to do this, they need to be active in free agency. They can't stand back and not sign anybody like last year. The defense isn't as good without him, but I wouldn't pay him $20 million. Teams lose big name players all the time. They will survive if they go elsewhere and improve the team with the money they're not going to spend on him.

It's cool at least we have Jake locked up for a few years.

:ack2:

It's probably the best option. Considering this year and last year, it's pretty apparent there will be no agreements made due to the parties involved having different interests. (Id est: Peppers agent is trying to make some $)

Yeah, I actually agree. It is still a head-banging moment cuz I like Pep, but this does make sense. Especially with all these comments coming out about other teams questioning Peppers work ethic and whatnot.

I think it's partly just a case of "too little, too late." We finally made the change to a beneficial scheme, but Peppers had already buried himself with his comments. I know some people are going to blame Hurney for this, but ultimately, I think this falls on Peppers and his agent. Like a few have already said, Hurney offered the deal in 2007...Peppers should have let his concerns be known earlier.

even if they would have let him walk last year,i believe we still would have got brown. plus him or johnson would have started the entire season which would have made them better.cj needs to stay healthy all year long, he couldnt do that with a reserve role. we have to bring in some help we only have cj,ebeeze, and hilee.

Because we were buying time in hopes of negociating an agreement with him. Last year, that time cost us 16 million... this year it will cost us 20.

We didn't know it would come to this when we applied the tag last year. Infact, Julius and Mr. Richardson met and Julius authorized his agent to negociate with us, but it didn't work out.

Remember that there still may be a cap this year, it doesn't look like there will be but there is still a chance... so we have to do business under that assumption. If the Panthers were sure there was going to be no cap then we might spend the 20 million on Julius, but it's too big of a risk.

It will be hard to watch him go, but the $ it would take to buy more time with him just doesn't make sense anymore.

catman i know what you are saying but still.they didnt offer anything after this season, they just said they havent made there mind on him yet.than he came out with the interview and so on,all im saying is they knew this could happen so why not avoid this headache by letting him walk the first time.

exactly.

that Dallas clip looks like he was just playing the run and watching (expecting) a cutback.....it didn't happen and then he kicked it into his top gear to try to catch back up.......that happens and easily could have been something they saw on tape and Pep was told to watch for.
