SAN DIEGO -- LaDainian Tomlinson is no longer a San Diego Charger.

The Chargers released Tomlinson on Monday, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

statement from Charger's owner:

"It has been a privilege to work with him and witness his entire career," owner Dean Spanos said in a statement. "I'm proud of him and grateful to him for the way he has carried himself both on and off the field.

"No matter where he chooses to continue his career, in my mind LT will always be a San Diego Charger. His legacy as one of the greatest running backs the game has ever seen will be as a Charger."

Dude, you read my thoughts. My only question is in his mind, does LT think he's still elite? If so, he'll be WAY too expensive even though we would be essentially getting an older version of D-Will and a potential 1st-2nd round pick in return.

It wouldn't hurt to see what kind of money he's floating out there to teams.

DWill to the Chargers for their 2010 and 2011 1st round picks.

This wuold be a really unpopular move amongst fans but I fully agree. We shuold sign LT right now to give us another quality #2 back, make Stew the starter, and trade DWill for multiple first rounders.

This team isn't going anywhere next year and there could be a change in the coaching staff the year after that. Might as well start to rebuild at WR and QB.
