Since Peppers is almost certainly gone, some people will have egg on their faces

I know a lot of people assume I had/do have connections, but I have always denied it... (or have I? ;) )

I'm sure you're talking about me, because I have been such a vocal supporter...

Personally, I still see Pep here for some reason or another after March 5th, the worst of which is if we decide not to tag him and risk letting him simply walk... It's just too bad for business from multiple aspects for Peppers NOT to be a Panther at some point in March...

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong... I've always said I'll eat my share of crow...

But when I'm right, don't expect me to not return said egg many of you are so eagerly awaiting to throw...

BTW, my source has now confirmed this.. Pep will not play here again...

Watch what Pep does in that system too.. Goodbye sack record..

You also posted last off season that your source told you Peppers would sign the deal that off season.

Is it still considered a source if they're never, ever right?

I don't have any inside information, just makes sense to me that we would let Peppers walk rather than paying him 20 million for one season. Letting Peppers walk is not a "good" decision, or one the Panthers want to be forced to make, it's just the lesser of two evils.

Most of the reading I've done suggests that nobody in the league thinks Peppers, or any DE, is worth a one year salary of 20 million. On top of that, the Panthers have to make this decision before they know whether or not there will be a cap this coming season. The prudent thing to do at the moment, is to make decisions as if there will be a cap, and spending 20 million on Peppers would severly restrict our cap space.

To add to all of that, Peppers is 30 so statistically he's on the downside of his career and when DE's fall apart, they fall apart fast. I would rather see Peppers stay, but I can understand why the Panthers may decide to let him walk.

If we don't get SOMETHING out of Pep, I'LL BE THE LOUDEST MOTHERf**kER ON THE MOTHERf**kIN' HUDDLE, and NOT A GODDAMN MOTHERf**kER WILL EVER MOTHERf**kIN' HEAR ME PRAISE THE PANTHERS FOR A MOTHERf**kIN' THING EVER AGAIN!... before I make my exit...

Of course, IF THAT MOTHERf**kER SIGNS ON THE GODDAMN MOTHERf**kIN' LINE, I'LL BE THE HAPPIEST "I TOLD YOU SO" MOTHERf**kER YOU DONE EVER SEEN!

So you are saying that you will be just another dumbass bandwagon fan.

If the team does what I like, then I will be happy and stay.

If they don't, I will denounce the team and leave.

Got it. However, we don't need fans like that.

Feel free to find the Motherf**kin' door now.

If you'd have done better research, you'd have also seen that that was in the context of Trgo remaining here... That was basically sarcasm because I knew Pep wouldn't stick around if Trgo did... I even had people slamming Pep and the Panthers because it would be silly for a player to be making demands about coaching... look how it turned out... Trgo gone, Meeks and Baker in... Even Pep himself has said he likes Meeks' system and that he likes Baker a lot...

Before that, and ever since that one post you dug up, I had been saying all along that Pep would play for us last year, and he did... I've been saying all along this offseason that Pep will play for us next season, and I still honestly think he will...

I don't recall claiming that I had a source saying that Pep would sign that deal... I had heard rumors that the deal was on the table, and it was, and that it was possible that it could be signed...

I do remember claiming after it didn't get signed that I didn't know what happened, and that I pretty much figured they would work out a deal this offseason...

Maybe I do have a source, and maybe I don't... The funny thing is I can have people relying on me for my opinion, and for the most part I am usually right...

The NFL and the Panthers run a business, and, as evidenced by this year, sometimes quick decisions are to be made in a business... Things can do a 180 in a matter of minutes based on a phone call...

I've also been pretty dead on in the past several drafts... Maybe not the exact players, but the positions hell yes...

I've called the Jarrett pick (granted I was a round off), the Stewart pick (I think), the Trgo release, the Pep '09 scenario, and numerous other things that have at least shown I've done my research if nothing else...

Why don't you put your rep on the line and start making your own original calls instead of trying to call me out?

Take Julius Peppers out of the situation and ask yourself this:

If someone told you , I have a DE that I want you to sign. Over the last 3 years he has 27.5 sacks. Over that period of time he was paid, 13 mill, 14 mill, 17 mill. If you franchise him and he doesn't sign the tender, until last minute you won't be able to negotiate any trades. Any trade would have to go through his college dorm advisor/agent. Oh and you will be on the hook for 20 million dollars. So even if he matches his best year it will only be 14.5 sacks. Top that off with the fact that he disappears for games, he is 30 years old and says he doesn't want to sign long term with you. He also doesn't want to be a team leader and is criticized constantly for not showing enough determination. Would you still say the FO is stupid for not signing this player?
