Peppers getting PWND

As Peppers gets closer to hitting the market, however, red flags are surfacing over his passion for football.

“I wouldn’t touch him, for that money and what he gives you,” an ex-Panthers personnel man told The Boston Globe. “On the field, he’s a freak athletically, but it’s whether he shows up or not. He’ll go two and three games and do nothing but take up space. Then he’ll have two sacks, a forced fumble, a pick, and change the game. And that’s the danger. He can mesmerize you, but it’s not consistent.”

That source wasn’t alone in questioning Peppers.

“He could end up costing some personnel guy his job,’’ said an AFC scout with extensive experience evaluating Peppers. “I’m terrified of him. In my heart of hearts, I believe that if you pay this guy, I don’t think you’ll see a double-digit sack [season] again the rest of his career.”

this is why I think he'll be back in Carolina franchise tag or not. It all lays on whether he is REALLY after the money, or if he just wants to play as an OLB or on a different team. If he is after the money, no one will give him a better contract than the Panthers will. His agent somehow thinks he deserves to be the highest paid defensive player in the league at 30 years old, boggles my mind.

This will be the very reason Pep re-signs with the Panthers and unleashes hell on opposing teams next season...

Yup, now that the whole league is openly questioning his effort and desire he will be a monster next year... but teams have to consider what happens when all this motivation goes away and he's 31 or 32.

I think Peppers still has more value to the Panthers than he has to anyone else. It's hard to tell exactly what happened last year, but by most accounts other teams were not exactly chomping at the bit to get Peppers. With Kampman and Vanden Bosch available, teams may opt for less gifted and more consistent players.

You never know, other teams could be putting these statements out there to lower his market value in his and his agents eyes. Or to convince us not to tag him in the attempt to trade.

Somehow I just do not think it's coincidence that the amount of quotes from supposed NFL personel is suddenly coming out about him. The media is a powerful thing and all teams interested in him will try to use it to their advantage.

Now I am not saying that what they are saying isn't true, just that it's another thing to think about. do not always take things for face value.
