The barometer on whether Tepper has learned ANYTHING in this clusterbomb is what he will do with Fitter on Monday

By Harbaugh nonsense do you mean from the radio show saying Tepper doesn’t want Harbaugh?

Yes. I have heard nothing about him not being interested in Harbaugh this year. Last year Harbaugh called multiple times and they talked about the job but NEITHER was interested in going forward with an interview. It sounds like somebody just found out that happened and it’s being perceived as this year.

I doubt Tepper or the search firm he handed the keys to have even spoke to Harbaugh or talked amongst themselves regarding Harbaugh this early in the process. That’s now how these things work.

EDIT: and I’m not saying I’ve heard that he will be interested in JH. I’m just saying for those rumors to come out like that is bs. It’s way too early in the process and it’s the same thing as draft season where there is a new rumor each day. Everything I have been told points towards him wanting somebody he can hand responsibilities to. Whether it’s a coach/GM type or a really strong GM personality and young Head Coach.

Gotcha thanks for the info. This is promising, of course I said that when he hired Franks staff. We absolutely need a Harbaugh type of coach.

Step back and analyze this objectively--put yourself in Tepper's situation.

1. You are a multi-billionaire.  You think you are smarter than everyone else as a result.  You get your way.  You have everything you want.  What would that do you YOUR ego?

2.  You buy the Panthers, an NFL franchise.  You like football.  You hire people who share your views, and the tell you what you want to hear.  You are new and want to be involved, so you talk to the coaches, scouts, GM, etc.  They probably second guess themselves because Tepper thinks he is smarter than them in the area of common sense, negotiation, etc.  The GM does what you want, because like a mafia boss, you let them know what you want.

3.  It backfires on you you become a national laughing stock.  Your team is the worst in the league.  People mock you in public.  You begin reacting to this feeling that you are being laughed at, mocked.  You shout "Fxxx" the day before firing your coach and you toss beverage and those who you think are taunting you.

4.  You release the news that you are hiring a search committee.  "See world?  I am not making all the decisions!" Maybe nothing, but all teams have search committees if done correctly--people who know the team, needs, and the NFL.

I think Tepper wanted the glory of winning a championship and he wanted to feed is ego by taking the reins at times.  Now he is trying to avoid being hated, laughed at, and humiliated in public.  Not sure how he will react, but I think he knows to keep his spoon out of the chef's broth.  And hire people who will tell you "no".

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
