Will Fitterer be fired?

Recommended Posts

He clearly has a good report with Tepper, so as some said, I can see him retained in some capacity to many's dismay. It's unfortunate given the team assembled, but it's the reality.

Not to give him too much credit, but Tepper clearly recognizes the team built is one of the league-wide worst in the past 10-15 years.  In large part his doing, sure, but this is not an idle ship and have never been.  He may just having like Scott around.

reports have always been Tepper took issue with people that pushed back on him and knew football.  I think that's why he likes Fitterer.  Fitterer makes a guy that knows nothing about football think he is smart.  He didn't fire Fitt for stabbing Frank in the back because Fitterer is team Tepper.  Which is why Fitterer hanging around will be horrible for a new GM search.   Most good candidates can probably figure out what a poo show is still cooking if Fitterer is still in place.  You just wait another cycle so your career isn't immediately derailed for a quick check.

I can’t believe he still had a job. In a vacuum judging just by what he’s done, he’s been the worst GM in the NFL. He’s lost on every trade he’s made. His best move is signing Frankie Luvu. Whoopee!

The only reason I think Tepper hasn’t fired him is he knows how much he meddled in his decisions and might let him finally work without his influence. But we can only hope.

Tepper thought Marty was an amazing college scout as well so he might actually think Fitterer is OK.

I’ve already told my son and said it in here that I’m not watching next year if Fitterer isn’t fired. There’s no disputing that he’s the worst GM in the NFL. His drafting and trading record is flat out horrific.

Not sure about worst, but he is building that resume.

I just read something that said Belichick hasn’t re-signed a single 1-4th round draft pick in the past 10 years.

Marty Hurney did one thing great.  He didn't just hit homeruns in the first round.....he used that first round pick on someone his HCs legitimately wanted.  Marty was definitely a coaches GM.  His picks fit the vision of the HC.  Which you got to think at least doesn't hurt the odds of the success of highly talented players.

I mean, a lot of people weren't thrilled in real time w/ Luke.  With CMC.  Or a Stewart.  Or a Stewart and then Otah move.  But all those moves were 100% plays to what the HC wanted to do.  Marty shared in his HCs vision of playing football in Carolina.

Fitterer's first pick, that's where the red flag started.  We were a team that needed to rebuild and he is out there drafting his Seattle corner.  He was no asset to Rhule or Frank.

A lot of these insiders have been saying they think he’ll get fired so I’m leaning in that direction. I’m sure Joe Person or Jonathan Jones will put out something Sunday morning confirming or denying that they’ve heard he’s getting moved on from.

Again, Tepper and all his “passionate” fits of rage this season mean nothing if he doesn’t get rid of everybody in charge of assembling this roster. Idc how nice Scott is, his roster isn’t good enough to keep a job.

maybe James White?  Bill is a horrible drafter.

He is staying because there are no reasons to not have fired him already. He should never have gotten the job anyways but Rhule and I am guessing Tepper just love a yes man. Remember when Rhule said he wanted a personnel guy so he could just focus on the other side? LOL

If Fitterer stays there is no hope and yes they are about to prove how it can get worse. I won't watch the games but I will be here for their pain and embarrassment.

CMC was Gettleman, but my point was that if Marty was a great talent scout, his post round 1 record would be way better. Just another case where you know Tepper gets snowed by lesser hires/not fires. Anyone with a brain would have seen that Marty wasn’t good at talent evaluation. It’s much easier, unless your last name rhymes with Shitterer, to make top 10 picks.

Belichick has been a bad drafter but I’d say he’s had better 2021-2023 drafts than Fitterer. Gonzalez and Horn are injured CBs that looked good although Gonzalez hasn’t shown 3 years of injuries yet and Strange is better than BC and Stevenson is better than Hubbard so his badness seems better than Fitterer and he’s still got his 2024 1st and 2025 2nd.

I’m 99.9% certain that you cannot find a worse GM from 2021-2023 that hasn’t already fuged up his 2024 draft.

I mean, Marty was sports writer, turned PR guy, turned front office admin guy.  Marty did sensible and smart things high valued picks.  Which was largely get the dude my HC wants.   Calling him a scout and expert on college talent....just shows Tepper doesn't know up from down.

I think managing the draft was probably the only aspect of the job Marty grades out decently on.  I mean, if the measuring stick is vs your peers.  I still wasn't horrible.  Because a lot of teams are really bad at drafting.  Even with good picks to inflate their picks like Marty had.

for a person living in reality, tepper doesn't have a choice. If he keeps Fit around after this season, and the horrific trades, then it's pretty clear who's actually pulling the strings. Fitt gives him plausible deniablity.

But Tepper has created his own reality so who the fug knows what's going through his thumb shaped head.

100%. If Fitt was the one advising Tepper to do all these trades and draft Icky and Bryce, then he’d be gone.

If Tepper was pushing Fitt in those directions then I can see Tepper keeping him.

His draft picks and moves have mostly make us worse.  He cannot remain in the same position.

I still think the best choice right now is to separate him from the team completely. Otherwise you risk a toxic environment, or at the very least the appearance of one.

But If that's not going to happen, then at the very least you have to move him to a different role that doesn't involve roster decisions.

    • Watching Rams/Eagles. Celebrating the St Louis Rams team that won the SB (Warner, Holt, etc..) while playing in Los Angeles seems wrong.  If I were in Los Angeles, no way I would attend a Rams game.  Probably wouldn't attend a Chargers game either.  Becoming a fan of a team that likes to move around just seems like a waste of energy as a fan.
    • The only responses I am getting after providing statistics to put opinions in perspective seem to be from people who get angry and attack stats and people whose opinions differ from their own.  Have people on the Huddle ever overreacted, exaggerated, been wrong about players before?  Sure they have, so an alternative opinion with statistical support should not cause you to attack me or my views.  I am sorry your public schools failed you.  But your reactions are very revealing--you are stuck in Piaget's concrete operational stage--learn logic, how to debate a topic, and learn the difference between facts and emotional opinions.  When I paralleled Cam's stats with Jones' to point out how remarkably similar their careers have been to this point, It blew some 40 watt minds.  I think Jones, in a better situation, could be good--that should not upset you--
