Panthers Wide Receiver Problem

Unless a premier wide receiver falls to us in the 2nd round,which may be doubtful,we may be better off going the free agency route.

Personally,I think that with 2011 having so much uncertainty, John Fox only being around because of this situation, and also wanting to see our team do something this year, that we would be better served getting 2-3 free agents wide receivers.

If we make a trade for Vincent Jackson, pick up Chris Chambers and Kevin Walters or Lance Moore, we would be set for a long time!

If we traded for Jackson and picked up Chris Chambers, and then were fortunate enough to be in a position to draft Thomas, then this would be an even better sceniro.

Chris Chambers blows. That said, that is exactly the kind of move Carolina would make......and we would see another year of crap surrounding Smitty.

Kevin Walter is probably my most realistic and talented choice. IMO he is also a type of player Carolina would go after.

I think a quality wr will be had come our time to pick. I see maybe Jordan Shipley or Jacoby Ford. Chris Chambers is getting up there we need to get some youth at wideout.

He's young and injury free.

It's kind of the point. The Panthers probably won't go after the biggest name or talent but will try for the value player. Out of guys like Holt and Chambers, I think Walter would be the better option.

We're going to get Shipley, Benn or Tate in the 2nd round. I'd like to see us go after Lance Moore or Kevin Walter as well, but chances are we just pick up a cheap no-name guy if we sign a WR in FA at all.

Vincent Jackson is great but there's no reason to trade all our picks away for him and then turn around and give him a huge contract. Not when there are so many other options that can be had easier and cheaper. Breaston, Lance Moore, Hixon, Shipley, Tate, Gilyard just to name a few.

And Chambers is a terrible idea, especially if we keep Moose. How many ancient WRs do we need on the team. Imagine if Smitty got hurt and then we're lining up Moose and Chambers LOL

Just looked up the FA WRs and noticed there are some very good options at TE also. Owen Daniels and Tony Scheffler will both be FAs. I don't think TE is a big need but either of them would be an upgrade over any TE we have so if we can get them for fairly cheap then why not.
