Have a feeling that Burns will be part of a draft-day deal. A late 1 or 2 perhaps. But, I agree that I would take a 3 to avoid paying him what he thinks he is worth.

And, yes, pay Mr. Brown.

i dont disagree with this, but i think Burns trade value is way lower than most people on here.

Like pending his contract demands, walking away with a third for him could be a steal. I think honestly they need to tag him and see if he can rehabilitate his value. it's not like money is an issue.

Sign Brown, tag Burns and trade him to the highest bidder.  Draft OL, Edge and WR.

Hopefully we have a new GM who will tag Burns and tell him flat out, its a clean slate.  "Play like you're worth that contract and we'll get the deal done." Let him come out and rip and tear and trade him at the deadline 😈

Seriously I don't know what we should do with Burns but I don't like the idea of him walking and getting nothing for him.  If he's gonna go we gotta get something the tag and deadline deal might be a good option if we can get some Edge help this offseason.

Other than that... Pay Derrick Brown.

Derrick Brown is the one prediction that I flat out nailed. He was the same way at Auburn. Was good that third year, but was Godzilla his senior year.

People need to understand. He's from a military family and is a exemplary person. He's the kind of guy you pay and he doesn't mail it in once he gets a check.

Burns is going to want a contract his play this year doesn't dictate simply because we turned down two first rounders for him. I get both arguments.

Between the three, you priority Brown and Luvu over Burns.

I don’t think you have to pick since you’re going to dump Shaq after next season.

i understand burns wants top dollar but he hasn’t played at that level so maybe you find yourself in a situation where you save some money with less guarantees.  If not, you tag him and see what happens.

ultimately we aren’t a top free agent city, so we end up overpaying.

it's amazing how fast things have changed re: burns and brown

i would like to remind all you fugers that i was on the brown train before ANYONE!

(actually not really even in that thread I started I just thought he was pretty good. Dude has taken the next step this year and is living up to his draft spot.)

Brown was absolute trash up until last year and only half the year at that. Part of me always is always skeptical seeing ‘things click’ in a contract year for players. But Brown has no doubt done a 180 and is a beast. Maybe he was just figuring things out unlike Burns who hit his ceiling early and hasn’t evolved worth a poo.

That's a reasonable fear, but based on his past history, it's not as likely. He did a ton of volunteer work at Auburn and was married with a kid before he left school (think I have that timing right). Guy just doesn't have that mentality.
