PFF: Bryce Young 5th-best QB over last two weeks

Also from PFF:

PICK NO. 1: CAROLINA PANTHERS: QB BRYCE YOUNG
Overall Rookie Grade: 55.6 (Rank: 6/6)
Principal Opponent: N/A
Week 16 Snaps: 66
Week 16 Grade: 82.0

For the second straight week, Young saved his best for last. He just narrowly missed his second consecutive victory but tallied 300 passing yards for the first time in his career. It was also his first game with three big-time throws. Young posted a 97.6 overall grade in the fourth quarter against Green Bay, which stands as the second-best quarter by any quarterback this year. Despite all the turmoil around him, it’s encouraging to see Young put forth back-to-back productive efforts.

Honestly the last two weeks have given reason for excitement. He does need to keep this going, and fug would I be pumped if he finished the season on a tear, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves just yet. Either way, I think we saw glimpses of why he was a first round QB pick the last two weeks (and honestly, he's had some plays earlier where we did too).

It is completely possible there were too many voices in his hand and he was listening to too many different people and not focusing on enough on any one thing. I hope that was it.

Footwork is still a major concern, but footwork IS fixable.

It didn't hurt to be facing the leagues worst secondary.

IDC, I will take it either way.

If nothing else maybe this will be a collective boost of confidence.

The Packers aren't actually THE worst secondary. They're one of about a dozen teams with a bad passing defense... I don't even know if they're the worst secondary we've faced yet..

Wonder what that Rank 6/6 means... 6/6 out of all rookie QBs? If so how is AR15 ahead of him lol

6/6 of graded rookie QBs on the year overall. AR is on the link, he's not part of the 6/6 as he was out in week 5. The other QBs aren't in the first round I think and I don't pay for PFF, so not sure who all qualifies.

I am a little confused how BY has an 84+ grade the last two weeks (for reference, CJ is at 82 all season) when I thought he was 79 last week and he's 82 this week...?  Who knows, PFF has so many different stats for players I don't try to figure out where their numbers actually come from week to week without a subscription lol

So we like PFF this week then? It seems to vary from moment to moment.

I think we like when media sources say nice things about our players.  Especially in such a shitty situation

I don't put much stock in their individual numbers week to week, but it's nice when a player is recognized by a media outlet that had been pretty harsh on him (understandably) for playing pretty well.

Just like most else in sports media, it means basically nothing but it's fun to talk about.

    • Exactly he has had some bad drops but he made some hard catches it’s almost like he a rookie but i could be mistaken .
    • I'm being careful not to raise my expectations too much. Our offense could be to where we could score closer to 20 points than 10 like last season. Our defense is still really bad, however. I'm ultimately more about our team continuing to fight regardless of the long odds like with today.
    • Not being mentioned much but just having Thielen back was a boost for Bryce, basically his original reliable go-to from his rookie season. As for David Moore being a major factor today, that's an odd one. My guess is a combination of Thielen being back drawing better matchups for everyone else and essentially doing all the stuff Coker would've done but better because he has much more experience in this system. Could've also been by design from Canales because Moore got ten targets today.
