Tyrus Thomas = immediate upgrade at 4 defensively. Though it's hard to find two 4's in the league more inconsistent than the two we have in Thomas and Diaw.

I'm having a really hard time deciding whether I like this trade or not. Sure Tyrus Thomas is very athletic (and I have to admit my first thought was excitement when I saw the headline), and we MOST definiately needed help down low, but.... a first rounder, plus flip (who has been pretty consistent offensively). I must look at the pros and cons:

Cons: Give up first rounder

Lose some scoring

Pros: We suck at drafting

We didn't give up Augustine or Henderson

We got help where we needed it

We may get Flip back after thirty days.... maybe

oh and we got this:

Here is what David Thorpe, Thomas' and other NBA players trainer during the offseason, said about him playing for the Bobcats last week during a chat on ESPN.com.

Question: Could Larry Brown Help TT (Tyrus Thomas)? Could TT help the Bobcats? Or would Larry Brown break TT beyond all repair?

David Thorpe (12:44 PM): TT is a huge basketball enthusiast. He knows the game and its' history. I think he'd love playing for Brown.

I love this trade for these reasons

A. When are we ever going to need Acie Law?

B. Everyone seems to be making a big deal out of losing a first rounder... keep in mind this will be the worst first rounder we have ever had (because we will make it to the playoffs for the first time this season) and we have never been good at drafting anyways. Plus, one could easily make the case that Tyrus Thomas is a better player than anyone we would have the chance to draft anyways. He is young, so its almost like we are using our late first round pick on Thomas... Ill take it all day.

The only bad thing is losing Flip, but there is still a chance we can get him back. In that case, this deal was a steal. Forget the first round pick... we just drafted Tyrus Thomas.

We don't know how he'll be used or how he'll perform when on the floor, so it's far too early to judge this trade. I do like that we're trying to improve and win, something that gives me a lot of hope moving forward.

All in all I like it.
