Cut Delhomme

If we don't resign McCown then we will most likely sign another veteran QB. I think also like Cantwell and with a year under his belt he might be good enough to fill a backup role.

Go Panthers

We might have 4 or more guys going in to camp but we will likely keep Moore and Jake with the third guy either being a draft pick or a vet once the season starts. We are not likely to have 4 QBs on our roster during the season. If we keep a QB on the practice squad he won't be someone we are afraid to lose much like Basanez in years past. If we draft a guy high, we will likely go with Moore and Jake as the other 2. It limits your choices at this point.

I will make this easier for all of you when you owe a guy more then 10 mil guaranteed you do not cut him plain and simple. Vince Young had a bad season he got benched came out this year and kicked ass lucky for the TItans they didnt cut him to make room for another roster spot.....

Get mad, get glad Jake will be back...bank on it.

I still say that the most likely outcome will be Jake retiring with some kinda of financial negociation being worked out. I just don't see JR allowing Jake to be the starter but at the same time I think the entire "injury" last year was a set up that would allow Delhomme not to be benched and save face. Fox, Hurney and JR are loyal to Jake but they aren't idiots and neither is Jake. I really feel that at some point before the draft Jake will announce retirement.

Jake may not have the physical skills he once had but there is no evidence that he can't help someone else with film work, reads etc. At my age I can coach someone to play football or a number of other sports but it doesn't mean I can play at that level. Jake is a smart quarterback who understands where to go with the ball. The complaints about locking on a receiver or not distributing the ball are not supported by the facts and we discussed them ad nauseum in the past. For example Smith doesn't get more than 1/3 of Jake's throws. That is pretty consistent with almost every team's number 1 receiver.

Jake is smart knows where to go with the ball? Is that a joke? 2006- 2009 (minus 07 when he was hurt) doesn't support that statement. And why are you just focusing on the "locking on a receiver" arguement when i didn't even mention it? Is it because it's the only good thing out of the never ending list of things wrong with Jake that supports your arguement? He still hasnt done a good job of looking for the open receiver or make accurate throws so that blows that little statistic up.

And again all the speculation about what he can do in the future is simply that, speculation. I remember those same things being said about Warner and Favre years ago. For some guys it is true, for others it is not. Only time will tell.

Look at what you're saying. You're comparing Delhomme to two future hall of famers. 2008 was enough evidence to show that Jake was going down hill fast and needed to be replaced just like 2009 was enough evidence to show that Jake is finished.
